Russia's RT news station on February 7 quoted the CEO of Twitter and SpaceX as saying that most people are "unaware" of the possibility that World War III may be imminent.

The risk of a global disaster was also emphasized by United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres when speaking before the United Nations General Assembly on February 6.

“The prospects for peace are diminishing. The risk of further escalation and bloodshed continues to rise,” Mr. Guterres said, criticizing a lack of “strategic vision” and “bias” that prevented political decision-makers from taking steps in the right direction.

The world is heading towards a "wider war" as the risk of an escalation of the conflict in Ukraine grows, according to the head of the world's largest multilateral body.

Referring to the speech of the UN Secretary General, conservative political commentator Luke Rudkowski asked billionaire Elon Musk: "Can we not start World War III?" and received the answer that "most (people) are unaware of the danger".

Earlier, the CEO of Twitter and SpaceX warned of the "unrelenting escalation" of the conflict in Ukraine, saying it was dangerous for Ukraine itself and the world.

Regarding the possibility of the conflict in Ukraine spreading, on January 23, former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev gave a speech to the leadership of the ruling United Russia party in Moscow, saying that the US and its allies almost ignited World War III by preparing to attack Russia, leaving Moscow with no choice but to act.

“Our party should help people around the world understand that the ongoing special operation (in Ukraine) is a forced and last-resort response to the aggression preparations of the United States and its satellites,” Medvedev said.

“It is clear that the world has come closer to the threat of World War III because of what is happening,” Mr. Medvedev stressed.

For his part, on January 16, Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said that Ukraine's defeat could lead to World War III, meaning Germany and other NATO countries would have to step up and send more weapons to Ukraine.

Speaking in Berlin at a ceremony marking the 50th anniversary of the career of German politician Wolfgang Schauble, Mr. Morawieckin stressed: “I call on the German government to act decisively and provide all kinds of weapons to Ukraine… The defeat of Ukraine could become a prelude to World War III, so today there is no reason to block support for Kiev and postpone the issues indefinitely.”

Meanwhile, Russia has repeatedly warned the West that sending weapons to Ukraine would prolong the conflict but would not change the outcome. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said German tanks would be burned like other Western weapons.
