Nine schools use the results of the Hanoi National University of Education's aptitude test for admission, including a medical school.
On February 5, Hanoi National University of Education announced that 9 schools have recognized and used the results of the competency assessment exam, including Hanoi National University of Education 2, Ho Chi Minh City National University of Education; pedagogical schools under Hue, Da Nang, Thai Nguyen universities; Vinh University, Quy Nhon University and Thai Binh University of Medicine and Pharmacy. This list may increase in the near future.
Thus, Thai Binh University of Medicine and Pharmacy is the first school in the medical sector to use the results of the competency assessment exam organized by Hanoi National University of Education for admission. This is also the first time this school has used the results of a separate exam. The school has not yet announced specific admission conditions and criteria.
Currently, medical schools still recruit students mainly based on the results of the high school graduation exam. Only the University of Medicine and Pharmacy - Hanoi National University and the Faculty of Medicine - Ho Chi Minh City National University consider admission based on the scores of the competency assessment exam, organized by these two universities.
2024 is the third year that Hanoi National University of Education has organized the competency assessment exam. Candidates choose to register for a number of exams in the subjects of math, literature, English, physics, chemistry, biology, history, geography and use the results to register for admission to majors according to the requirements of each school.
The exam is a combination of multiple choice and essay questions. Literature has 30% multiple choice questions and 70% essay questions, English has a ratio of 80-20% multiple choice and essay questions, the remaining subjects are 70-30%.
The questions are from the 2006 general education program, assessed according to the level of understanding of core knowledge and the ability to reason, analyze, evaluate, solve problems and be creative. Candidates do the test directly on paper.
Hanoi National University of Education said the exam will take place on May 11, at three locations including Hanoi National University of Education, Quy Nhon University and the University of Education - University of Da Nang. The exam results will be announced before June 1.

Candidates will register for the exam online on the Hanoi National University of Education's Information Portal from March 15 to April 15 at: https://ts2024.hnue.edu.vn/. The exam fee is 200,000 VND per subject. Candidates can only register for a maximum of one test per session.
Last year, nearly 4,700 candidates registered for the exam in Hanoi and Binh Dinh, and eight teacher training schools used the exam results.
Currently, the country has nearly 10 separate university entrance exams, the most popular being the aptitude test of two national universities, the thinking test of Hanoi University of Science and Technology, and the exam of police schools.
More than one hundred universities use the results of these exams for admission, in addition to considering high school graduation exam scores and a number of other methods.
