Hanoi University of Industry plans to establish 3 new schools, bringing the total number to 5 affiliated schools and convert them into universities by 2025.
Hanoi University of Industry establishes 5 schools, expected to become universities by 2025
On February 16, Hanoi University of Industry announced its goal of developing into a multidisciplinary university with many member schools. According to the roadmap, by 2025, the school strives to meet all the conditions to become a university according to Government regulations.
To implement this roadmap, previously, in December 2021, the Hanoi University of Industry Council established the School of Foreign Languages and Tourism. This is the first affiliated school, on the basis of merging the Faculty of Foreign Languages (established in 2005) and the Faculty of Tourism (established in 2000).
Next, in August 2023, the School of Mechanics and Automobiles was established on the basis of merging and developing the Faculty of Mechanics and the Faculty of Automobile Technology.
It is expected that from now until 2025, 3 more schools will be established: Electricity - Electronics; Management Economics and Information and Communication Technology.
Dr. Kieu Xuan Thuc, Principal of Hanoi University of Industry, said: "In the transformation roadmap, our problem is to restructure existing faculties, not to increase the scale."
The school aims to become a multi-functional applied science training and research university, developing according to the smart university model. In the roadmap to becoming a university, the school advocates that training activities must be linked to practice in order to provide the labor market with a high-quality workforce capable of working in practice.
According to statistics from the Ministry of Education and Training, the country currently has 267 higher education institutions (excluding the national security and defense sector). With the Prime Minister's decision in December 2022, Hanoi University of Science and Technology is the first unit to transform from a university to a university after the Law on Higher Education amended and supplemented in 2018 and Decree 99 in 2019 took effect.
Next, in October 2023, Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics will be the second unit to convert its model according to the new regulations.
Thus, the country currently has 7 universities including: Hanoi National University, Ho Chi Minh City National University, Thai Nguyen University, Hue University, Da Nang University, Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics.
