Many universities have now announced their 2024 enrollment plans in a simplified manner as required by the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET).
Reduce the criteria for high school graduation admission
The National Economics University has just announced expected information on enrollment methods and targets for 2024.
According to Associate Professor Dr. Bui Duc Trieu, Head of Training Management Department, National Economics University, in 2024, the school's enrollment orientation will basically remain stable as in 2023, but it is expected that there will be adjustments to the enrollment quota. The school will reserve about 18% of its enrollment quota for the high school graduation exam score method (down 7% compared to 2023), increase the combined enrollment method to 80%, and reserve 2% of its enrollment quota for the direct enrollment method.
Thus, in 4 years, the National Economics University has reduced the graduation exam quota from 70% to 18%. At the same time, the school has also conducted research and simplified the combined admission method, in order to implement Official Dispatch 5155 of the Ministry of Education and Training, while still ensuring the rights of candidates.
In 2024, Hanoi National University plans to organize 6 rounds of competency assessment exams with a scale of about 75,000 exams, 2 rounds less than in 2023. The earliest exam round is expected to take place on March 23 and 24, 2024; the final exam round is expected to take place on June 1 and 2, 2024. Simplify the admissions process
The Ministry of Education and Training requires training institutions to complete enrollment methods in 2024 and prepare enrollment methods from 2025 in accordance with the 2018 General Education Program.
Specifically, complete the 2024 enrollment plan and methods, overcome current shortcomings based on data analysis, with special attention paid to completing enrollment methods in a simplified manner in accordance with current enrollment regulations; avoid introducing complicated enrollment methods that cause difficulties for candidates.
Higher education institutions must develop and promptly announce admission methods for 2025 onwards, when candidates begin to graduate from the 2018 General Education Program. Admission methods from 2025 must ensure compliance with the requirements, content, and structure of the 2018 General Education Program.
Particularly for training institutions with teacher training majors: It is necessary to proactively work with the People's Committees of provinces and centrally-run cities to effectively implement Decree No. 71/2020/ND-CP of the Government stipulating the roadmap for improving the training standards of preschool, primary and secondary school teachers and Decree No. 116/2020/ND-CP stipulating policies to support tuition fees and living expenses for pedagogical students.
In addition, teacher training institutions also need to closely link training and fostering capacity with the requirements on quantity and quality of teachers and educational managers, in order to continue to carry out fundamental and comprehensive innovation in education and training and meet the requirements of implementing the new general education program.
