Preserving and developing traditional crafts through experiential activities is being applied by many establishments and craft villages in Hai Duong, bringing about practical efficiency and value.
Experience to promote
After nearly 400 years of being lost, Chu Dau pottery (Nam Sach) has revived. Therefore, the artisans here are even more concerned and anxious to preserve the craft. Besides focusing on production and business activities, Chu Dau Pottery Joint Stock Company is especially interested in creating and spreading the values of this ancient pottery line. In order for people to know more, have more knowledge and information about Chu Dau pottery, the company always creates favorable conditions for organizations and individuals to visit and experience.
According to the representative of Chu Dau Ceramic Joint Stock Company, in order to meet the needs of people and tourists, the company proactively prepares all conditions to welcome groups to experience, learn and conduct in-depth research. Every month, there are groups coming to the factory with many different components and ages from children, students, to tourists, researchers... On average, each year, the company welcomes about 15,000 visitors to visit and experience. Not only are they provided with information and learn about the typical, long-standing ceramic line of the Eastern land, people are also excited and eager to make ceramics themselves. Through this activity, the company wants generations, especially young people, to respect and preserve the ceramic making profession that was once forgotten and lost.
As the third generation successor of the famous Thanh Toi sticky rice cake brand in Ninh Giang district, Mr. Nguyen Van Duong is always struggling to find a way to develop the traditional profession of his family and locality. Mr. Duong believes that preserving the traditional profession must be based on both product quality and reputation. Therefore, he always wants to introduce and promote his hometown's specialties. He chooses to build the image of sticky rice cake through activities and stories of experience.
Locals and tourists coming to Ninh Giang to visit, worship Tranh Temple, and enjoy Hong Phong water puppetry will stop by the gai cake production facility to learn about the specialty cake here. In addition to serving local people and tourists, Mr. Duong's production facility is also willing to support local schools that want to bring children and students to experience the real thing. "If a group comes to visit, it will more or less affect the production activities of the facility. However, we try to arrange to ensure production while bringing new and interesting experiences to everyone," said Mr. Duong.
Need to be methodical
According to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the province currently has 66 industrial and handicraft villages and 1 agricultural village. In addition, the province also has many traditional, long-standing occupations that are typical of the Eastern region.
In recent times, besides the professions that are still preserved and developed in modern society, some professions have been lost. Therefore, how to develop traditional professions is still an open question. Based on practical requirements, the craftsmen want their products to be widely promoted and many people want to find old values, the activity of experiencing craft villages has been born. However, most of these activities are still spontaneous and not systematically organized.
Recently, Minh Tu embroidery facility in Hung Dao commune (Tu Ky) has also welcomed groups to experience and learn about the embroidery craft. The facility representative said that besides the excitement because more and more people know about the local traditional craft, the facility is also worried because although they have a lot of experience in the profession, they lack the skills to organize the experience sessions. When people come to experience, there needs to be information to explain. Information about the craft village must be consistent among the facilities. At the same time, it is also necessary to invest in equipment to serve people and tourists to experience and practice. Therefore, the facility requests that all levels and sectors pay attention, support, and create conditions to be able to organize meaningful, practical, and effective experience sessions.
The province is effectively implementing the “One Commune One Product” (OCOP) program, focusing on developing traditional craft products into OCOP products. Experiencing traditional crafts is the solution to convey the message about the OCOP product story.
The province has oriented, preserved and promoted the value of traditional occupations, thereby developing rural tourism. In particular, focusing on restoring and developing traditional occupations associated with cultural spaces, historical and revolutionary relics. Priority is given to selecting a number of typical and outstanding occupations to build and implement experiential activities such as Xuan Neo embroidery, Dong Giao carpentry, Cuc Bo carpentry, Hoang Dieu leather shoes, Chu Dau pottery, Cay pottery, etc.
Through experiential activities, Hai Duong's traditional professions not only exploit economic efficiency but also promote other intangible values.
