Hai Duong city is currently the locality with the highest number of measles cases in the province, accounting for 74% of the total number of cases in the province.
According to the Hai Duong Provincial Center for Disease Control, as of mid-February, the province recorded 46 cases of measles, while there were no cases at the same time in 2024.
Hai Duong city has the highest number of measles cases in the province with 34 cases. Chi Linh city and Kinh Mon town each have 3 cases. Binh Giang, Kim Thanh, Tu Ky, and Cam Giang districts have 1-2 cases. The remaining localities have not recorded any measles cases.
In Hai Duong City alone, a measles outbreak occurred in early January in Viet Hoa Ward. The measles cases were mainly children who were not old enough to be vaccinated, had not been vaccinated, or had not been fully vaccinated against measles.
The measles epidemic continues to develop complicatedly. The humid weather creates favorable conditions for measles pathogens to develop and spread rapidly. The most effective measure to prevent measles is full vaccination. In 2024, Hai Duong organized 2 measles vaccination campaigns for children aged 1-5 years and high-risk medical staff with a vaccination rate of 92.5%.
