Hai Duong recorded the first measles outbreak of 2025 in the first days of the year, while in 2024 the measles outbreak appeared at the end of the year.
According to the Center for Disease Control of Hai Duong province, a measles outbreak has just occurred in the province in Zone 2, Viet Hoa Ward (Hai Duong City). In this outbreak, 3 children in the same family contracted measles. All 3 children have received 1 dose of vaccine to prevent this disease.
As soon as the outbreak was detected, the Provincial Center for Disease Control coordinated with the Hai Duong City Medical Center to direct the Viet Hoa Ward Medical Station to deploy epidemic prevention measures. At the same time, they screened children of age who had not been fully vaccinated against measles to organize catch-up vaccinations and catch-up vaccinations during the expanded vaccination campaign in January.
In the first 20 days of January 2025, the whole province recorded 14 measles cases, compared to no cases in the same period in 2024. The number of measles cases in the first days of 2025 was 45% compared to the whole year of 2024.
The measles epidemic is still complicated. Not only children but also adults with the disease have serious complications. The best way to prevent the disease is to get vaccinated against measles.
