The announcement on October 28 said the two countries aim to combat illegal migration, especially the criminal activities of human traffickers.

The statement also said that the two countries are ready to strengthen cooperation in common border areas, as well as to strengthen surveillance measures for secondary migration, such as from one Schengen country to another. Various measures are planned in this plan, starting with police intervention in border areas. In addition, the two countries will also organize joint patrols on the railway system.

The action plan is expected to be reviewed by both sides in the first half of 2024. Prior to the cooperation with France, Switzerland had also approved similar action plans with Germany and Austria.
