Average income of workers increased by 600,000 VND after 1 year

The Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs said that in the first quarter of 2024, the average income of workers increased by VND 606,000 compared to the first quarter of 2023.

The Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs has just released the Vietnam labor market bulletin for the first quarter of 2024.

This quarter, the whole country has 51.3 million employed workers, an increase of over 174,000 people compared to the first quarter of 2023, but a decrease of about 127,000 people compared to the fourth quarter of 2023.

The number of unemployed people is about 1.05 million, an increase of about 5,400 people compared to the first quarter of 2023. The unemployed youth group accounts for nearly 8%.

The average income of workers in the first quarter of 2024 is 8.5 million VND/month, an increase of 606,000 VND compared to the first quarter of 2023. Of which, men have an income of about 9 million VND/month, and women have an income of about 7.9 million VND/month.

The Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs pointed out that the demand for jobs focuses on industries such as textiles, metal production, electronic products, computers, optical products, etc.

Jobs sought after by businesses include store management, science - engineering, accounting - auditing, restaurant - tourism service staff, and marketing.

In the second quarter of 2024, the printing and copying of all kinds of records, mineral exploitation, and production of rubber and plastic products are forecast to have a decrease in demand of 1.5-3.8% compared to the previous quarter.

On the contrary, groups such as bed, wardrobe, table and chair production, textiles, electronic products, computers, and optical products have demand increasing from 1.6-2.6%.

Regarding the job market in the first quarter of 2024, the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs recorded that compared to the fourth quarter of 2023, the number of employed people in some industries increased sharply, such as accommodation and food services (137,000 people), manufacturing and processing industry (61,000 people)...

In contrast, the construction industry lost 255,000 jobs. Also in decline were the agriculture, forestry and fishery sector (80,000 people), real estate business (17,000 people)...
