In 2023, the average income of Vietnamese workers will reach 7.1 million VND per month, an increase of 459,000 VND (6.9%) over the same period in 2022.

The General Statistics Office's report shows that the average income of male workers is 8.1 million VND and that of female workers is 6 million VND. In the fourth quarter of 2023 alone, workers' lives will improve as the average income will reach 7.3 million VND per month, an increase of 180,000 VND compared to the third quarter.

Income growth reached 2.5%, nearly double the 1.4% in the fourth quarter of 2022 - when the pandemic had just ended. The reason is that in the last months of the year, businesses accelerated production and business, orders improved, pushing workers' income higher than before.

The average income of workers in all economic regions in the fourth quarter of 2023 increased. The fastest increase was in the Red River Delta, reaching VND 8.7 million per month (up 3.5%).

The Southeast region recorded the lowest income growth, about 2.3%, reaching 9 million VND per month. Compared to the same period in 2022, the increase in labor income in some provinces and cities with many industrial and processing zones was quite low, such as Dong Nai 8.9 million VND (up 1.6%); Ho Chi Minh City 9.4 million VND (1.9%). On the contrary, some localities had quite good growth, such as Binh Duong 9.5 million VND (up 6.4%); Vung Tau 8.7 million VND (12.8%).

Although income growth is slower than in other regions, the Southeast is no longer leading in the unemployment rate among working-age people. The unemployment rate in Ho Chi Minh City alone has decreased to 2.91% as many businesses are looking for new orders and expanding production, so there is a need to recruit thousands of workers. The city has also organized many direct and online job fairs to connect workers and businesses.
