Set up Bluetooth on Windows 10 computer

If your computer does not come with Bluetooth hardware, you can add a Bluetooth device.

Nowadays, almost all new computers and laptops come with Bluetooth built-in. But what if your computer doesn’t support this technology? The most reasonable solution is to use a Bluetooth device. Here’s everything you need to know about setting up Bluetooth on Windows 10.

Equip your computer with Bluetooth devices

If your computer does not come with Bluetooth-enabled hardware, the only solution is to add a Bluetooth device.

After connecting the device to your computer, Windows 10 will automatically recognize and allow your computer to connect to any Bluetooth devices around.

Connect device to computer via Bluetooth

To connect, the first thing you need to do is turn on Bluetooth on both devices. For example, here we will connect an Android smartphone to a Windows 10 computer via Bluetooth.

First, open the quick task panel on the home screen and click on the Bluetooth icon.

The Bluetooth window will appear and scan for Bluetooth enabled devices around you. On your Windows 10 computer, right-click on the Bluetooth icon and select Add a Bluetooth Device.

The Settings window will appear and access the Bluetooth settings. Here, click on the Add Bluetooth or other device option.
The device connection setup window will appear, click on the Bluetooth option.

The computer will scan for Bluetooth enabled devices nearby. Once you see your phone's name appear in the list, click on it.

The Bluetooth connection setup window between the computer and the phone will appear. At the same time, the phone screen will display a request to allow the connection between the computer and the phone to proceed, click OK to confirm. The name of the phone will appear in the Other devices area.
