Another AI tool to support sellers on e-commerce platforms

In addition to OpenAI's ChatGPT, sellers on the Amazon platform can use the company's own generative AI tool to improve their competitiveness and stand out in the market.

E-commerce giant Amazon has just released a generative AI tool that helps sellers fill out information and list products for sale on the platform.

The tool prompts sellers to enter a few keywords or sentences that describe their product. It then generates a series of content that sellers can use to build their listings, such as titles, bullet points, and descriptions. Users can use the tool to create new listings or edit existing listings.

Amazon has not released its own chatbot, but has focused its application of generative AI on its device and retail businesses, as well as AWS cloud computing.

The AI feature was announced by Amazon at its annual conference (Amazon Accelerate) for third-party sellers operating on the platform. Previously, The Information reported that the e-commerce platform was testing the new tool with a small group of sellers.

“This is just the tip of the iceberg of how the company plans to use AI to improve the seller experience and help them become more successful,” said Mary Beth Westmoreland, Amazon’s vice president of global seller partner experience.

Amazon sellers are now using OpenAI’s ChatGPT to create listings, come up with catchy titles, or brainstorm new product ideas. Meanwhile, the US online retail giant has also recently started using AI to aggregate customer reviews of products.

AI tools are expected to make it easier for sellers to stand out in the vast and competitive third-party marketplace that Amazon launched in 2000. The marketplace has since become the core of the company’s e-commerce business, attracting millions of sellers and generating more than half of all retail sales.

Amazon CEO Andy Jassy has said the company plans to incorporate more AI applications into its business. The company has not yet released its own chatbot, but has focused on applying generative AI to its device and retail businesses, as well as its AWS cloud computing.
