Multiple accidents on National Highway 1 through Khanh Hoa, 13 people injured and dead

At nearly 8:00 a.m. this morning, January 19, a truck with a Phu Yen license plate traveling south-north on National Highway 1 collided with a 29-seat passenger bus from Khanh Hoa to Phu Yen, carrying dozens of people traveling in the same direction and preparing to turn onto the road.

The strong collision caused the passenger bus to cross the adjacent lane and was hit by a Thanh Hoa container truck traveling in the opposite direction.

The collision caused severe damage to three vehicles, the passenger car's cabin was deformed. Many pieces of the vehicles were scattered on the road. The cars blocked the road, causing a long traffic jam on Highway 1.

According to Mr. Chu Van An, Deputy Director in charge of Khanh Hoa Department of Transport, the accident left one person on the bus dead and many victims seriously injured. All were taken to Ninh Hoa Town General Hospital, nearly 8 km from the accident site.

Doctor Tran Ngoc Luan, Deputy Director of Ninh Hoa Town Regional General Hospital, said that this morning the hospital received 12 patients, of whom 8 were seriously injured such as head injuries, broken arms and legs... Currently, the unit is mobilizing maximum human resources and doctors to treat the patients.

The accident occurred on a straight 6-lane road with full traffic safety system, outside of a densely populated area. At the time of the accident, it was not raining and the road surface was dry.

Police are currently investigating the cause of the accident and directing traffic in the area.
