CMC University was allowed by the Prime Minister to change its name from Asian University of Industrial Fine Arts on July 26, 2022. The school is oriented to develop according to the digital university model.

On the morning of November 17, CMC Technology Group held the launching ceremony of CMC University, the first digital university model in Vietnam.
CMC University, formerly known as the Asian University of Industrial Fine Arts, was recently approved by the Prime Minister to change its name to CMC University on July 26, 2022. The school also changed its training majors.
Mr. Nguyen Trung Chinh, Chairman of the Board of Directors of CMC Technology Group, Chairman of the Council of CMC University, said that the school aims to become a digital university according to international standards; training high-quality human resources, training digital people - digital thinkers to conquer the digital world for the goal of developing a better society, for a strong and prosperous Vietnam.
Accordingly, the school aims to develop from a “smart, innovative university” in the 2022-2032 period to a “research university” after 2032. The school’s top goal is to become a technological university with strong training fields in computer science, information systems, electronics and telecommunications and other fields related to the requirements of science and technology development and the digital economy of the whole country, with a medium scale, from 20,000 to 30,000 students by 2039.

The school teaches entirely in English with imported textbooks, and is committed to ensuring employment for students after graduation. In the first enrollment period in 2022, the school attracted 345 students from 28 provinces and cities across the country.
Professor Nguyen Thi Doan, President of the Vietnam Association for Promoting Education, former Vice President, Honorary President of the Council of CMC University, said that the school was established with the mission of training high-quality human resources in science and technology, to innovate and create for the country, creating a lifelong learning environment through open educational resources with highly interactive teaching methods, with smart devices, serving everyone, helping students have the opportunity to study anywhere, anytime.
Highly appreciating the development orientation of CMC University's digital university, Mr. Phan Tam, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications, said that the digital university that CMC is aiming for is the solution to the problem of digital human resources that Vietnam is in dire need of.
"The group's financial and technological potential will be very useful for digital transformation of teaching and learning activities through the development and application of digital platforms," said Mr. Tam.
Also at the launching ceremony, CMC University officially opened its first student class.
Previously, during a working session with CMC University on August 16, Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son also expressed his hope that CMC University will become a model for the digital university model in Vietnam.
