Quang Binh records first death due to dengue fever

The person who died from dengue fever was a 56-year-old woman residing in Quang Xuan Commune, Quang Trach District. Her family took her to the Northern Quang Binh Regional General Hospital with a diagnosis of dengue fever, high blood pressure, heart failure, and bronchitis.

The patient was transferred to the Vietnam - Cuba Friendship Hospital in Dong Hoi. Despite active treatment by doctors and nurses, the patient's prognosis was very poor. The family asked him to go home in a state of septic shock with focal digestive tract infection, dengue fever, multiple organ failure and he died at home.

In Quang Binh province, dengue fever is on the rise and becoming more complicated in many localities. The two districts with the highest number of dengue fever cases since the beginning of the year are Bo Trach (398 cases) and Quang Ninh (247 cases). From November 18 to 26, the province recorded more than 160 more cases of dengue fever in 7 districts, towns and cities.

The Provincial Center for Disease Control, District, Town and City Health Centers are focusing on closely monitoring dengue fever outbreaks, thoroughly handling outbreaks as soon as they are detected; promoting environmental sanitation campaigns, cleaning houses, village roads and alleys, clearing sewers, overturning water containers, killing mosquito larvae/wrigglers; organizing inspection teams, monitoring, directing epidemic prevention and control work at hotspots, areas at risk of outbreaks, supporting lower levels in epidemic prevention and control work.

In addition, units and localities actively propagate and instruct people to protect their health and recognize signs of dengue fever. Hospitals under the Department of Health and non-public medical examination and treatment facilities perform well in admission, ensure adequate medicine and equipment for patient treatment, and minimize deaths due to dengue fever.
