Phu Yen, arrested a subject impersonating a land buyer to defraud and appropriate property

On September 4, Colonel Vo Duy Tuan, Deputy Director of the Provincial Police, Head of the Investigation Police Agency of Phu Yen Provincial Police, said that from the people's denunciation, through the investigation process, the functional forces of Phu Yen province coordinated with the Dak Mil District Police (Dak Nong province) to arrest Phan Dinh Thanh (born in 1968, currently residing in Xuan Binh village, Dak Sak commune, Dak Mil district, Dak Nong province) to investigate the crime of "Fraudulent appropriation of property" as prescribed in Clause 2, Article 174 of the Penal Code.

Previously, from the denunciation of Mr. Trinh Huy Hoang (born in 1986, Ward 13, District 14, Ho Chi Minh City) with the content, he posted an advertisement to sell some production forest land lots (in Xuan Phuong commune, Song Cau town, Phu Yen province) on social networking sites, then someone asked to buy and defrauded him of 130 million VND, the Investigation Police Agency of Phu Yen Provincial Police urgently started the investigation, searching for the subject by following the traces.

The investigation results identified and arrested Phan Dinh Thanh (born in 1968, currently residing in Xuan Binh village, Dak Sak commune, Dak Mil district, Dak Nong province) for fraud to appropriate 130 million VND from Mr. Trinh Huy Hoang.

Through investigation, Thanh confessed that because he had no money for personal expenses, he came up with the idea of ​​defrauding and appropriating other people's property by going on social networking sites to find people posting land for sale and then calling them pretending to be land buyers to approach them.

When meeting the victim, Thanh gave a lot of false information about his economic situation such as currently working as the Director of a shipbuilding company, operating a marina business, having a house in Vinhome area... to make the victim trust him.

Then, Thanh would invite the victim to eat and go out, then take advantage of the loophole to commit fraud and appropriate property.

According to the Investigation Police Agency of Phu Yen Province Police, Phan Dinh Thanh initially confessed to having committed 11 fraud cases that appropriated property of many victims in many provinces and cities across the country such as Lam Dong, Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Dak Lak, Gia Lai, Ho Chi Minh City, Can Tho, Kien Giang, Quang Tri, Ninh Binh, and Hanoi.

The Investigation Police Agency of Phu Yen Province Police requests that anyone who has been defrauded or had their property appropriated by Phan Dinh Thanh contact the Police Agency for coordination in resolving the matter./.
