On May 13, Hau Giang Provincial Police announced that they had successfully rescued a kidnapping case demanding a ransom of 10 billion VND.

Previously, at around 11:00 a.m. on May 11, Chau Thanh A District Police, Hau Giang Province received a report that Mr. MVC, Deputy Director of an interior and exterior design and construction consulting company in Can Tho City, had been kidnapped after meeting a client in Chau Thanh A District on May 10.

The kidnappers contacted Mr. C's family and demanded a ransom of 10 billion VND, and the family transferred 44.5 million VND.

Hau Giang Provincial Police proactively coordinated with professional departments under the Ministry of Public Security, Ho Chi Minh City Police, Can Tho City Police, Vinh Long Province, Dong Thap Province..., and mobilized nearly 100 officers and soldiers to participate in solving the case.

By 4 p.m. on May 11, the police had identified the masterminds as two brothers, Nguyen Huu Nghia (47 years old) and Nguyen Thanh Nguyen (37 years old), both residing in An Nhon commune, Chau Thanh district, Dong Thap province. Both are currently hiding in Vinh Long province.

At 0:10 on May 12, the police arrested Nghia in Luc Sy Thanh commune, Tra On district (Vinh Long province). Through quick investigation, Nghia confessed that the place where the victim was being held was a house in Tan Hung hamlet (Tan Hanh commune, Long Ho district, Vinh Long province).

At 0:40 a.m. the same day, reconnaissance teams approached, surrounded, and deployed a plan to rescue the hostages.

Realizing he was surrounded, Nguyen Thanh Nguyen used a knife to control the victim, demanded a car and released Nghia so that both could take the hostage and escape.

At 3:20 a.m. on May 12, taking advantage of Nguyen's lack of vigilance, Lieutenant Colonel Huynh Minh Tho, Head of the Criminal Police Department of Hau Giang Provincial Police, and detectives rushed in, knocked down, disarmed, successfully subdued Nguyen and safely rescued the hostage.

At 6:00 a.m. on May 13, detectives arrested Nguyen Quoc Thanh (residing in Can Tho City) and Ly Minh Chanh (living on the streets) while they were hiding in Can Tho City and Dong Nai Province.

At the police station, the kidnappers confessed that they were drug addicts, had no money to spend, and knew that Mr. C. was the Deputy Director and that his family was well off, so they kidnapped him and demanded ransom.

On May 9, the kidnapping group used fake documents to rent a house in Tan Phu Thanh residential area (Chau Thanh A district, Hau Giang province) and contacted Mr. C. to come and sign an interior decoration contract.

At around 3:00 p.m. on May 10, when Mr. C. arrived, the group used pepper spray to control him, took all his belongings, and put him in a car to take him to a rented house in Vinh Long province.
