Floodwaters rushed onto Highway 6 (through Cun slope, Hoa Binh province), causing motorbikes to be swept away and many cars to be unable to move.
On the evening of August 24, the leader of the People's Committee of Thai Binh Ward (Hoa Binh City, Hoa Binh Province) said that heavy rain in recent days has caused many roads on National Highway 6 to be cut off, making it difficult for vehicles to travel.
This afternoon, August 24, the amount of soil and rocks that slid down from the mountain onto the road (through Cun slope) was so much that vehicles could not move, lining up for several kilometers.
"Immediately after receiving the information, functional forces including police, army, Department of Transport of Hoa Binh province... were present to fix the landslide location, ensuring traffic on the route.PresentlyAuthorities have also installed warning signs, restricting people from moving through this area.", the ward leader informed.
At around 6:40 p.m. the same day, after dispatching an excavator to level the road, the road maintenance unit cleared the flow. However, due to the rain in this area, many rocks and soils had collapsed, so traffic on Highway 6 was still congested for nearly 4km.
According to people at the scene, the landslide area was under construction, heavy rain and steep slope caused the water to flow rapidly, trapping many vehicles.
"The strong water flow caused a motorbike to be swept away nearly 10 meters. Luckily, the person on the motorbike was saved by everyone.", the witness said.
It is known that at the landslide location, the Project to handle traffic safety risks on the Cun slope (Km78+500 - Km85+100) on National Highway 6 is being implemented with a total investment of nearly 130 billion VND. This is a project invested by the Department of Transport of Hoa Binh province.
