To avoid using many electrical appliances at the same time during peak hours, Mr. Loi always sets aside time to turn on the water heater in advance, not leaving it on for a long time. “Each of these small actions also contributes significantly to helping my family save electricity. Living expenses are also less burdensome, especially during hot spells. While other households’ electricity bills increase, my family’s electricity bill is still within the expected level. The family’s living expenses are also more comfortable when electricity bills do not become a burden,” Mr. Loi shared.

Mr. Cao Van Dung’s family in Vu Thach Street, Hai Tan Ward (Hai Duong City) also often chooses electrical equipment with energy-saving labels from the Ministry of Industry and Trade, uses LED bulbs, and solar-powered heating and cooling systems. The bedrooms are all equipped with windows and ventilation doors to take advantage of natural wind and light. Mr. Dung also instructs family members to get into the habit of unplugging electrical equipment when not in use.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Loan's family on Nguyen Luong Bang Street, Thanh Mien Town, does not use many electrical appliances at the same time to avoid overloading. During the hot season, her family often stays in the same room to limit the use of multiple air conditioners. When the air conditioner is turned on, it is usually set at 27 degrees, using a fan to cool down and setting a timer to turn it off instead of leaving it on all night to avoid consuming too much electricity.

In addition, Ms. Loan also regularly cleans and maintains electrical equipment in the house to promptly replace old equipment that consumes a lot of energy. “Regularly cleaning electrical equipment to detect small errors and replace them promptly, avoiding high electricity consumption is also a good way to save electricity. Since applying these habits, my family's electricity bill has decreased by about 15 - 20% compared to before,” Ms. Loan happily said.

Save electricity to protect the environment

Many people still think that saving electricity in the family is not significant, or when the amount of electricity is mainly for production and business, businesses only need to save electricity to meet the needs of people. However, during the peak of the dry season, the demand for electricity increases, which can lead to local power shortages. Saving electricity in any area is extremely necessary, contributing significantly to reducing the load on the power grid system.

In the dry season of 2023, the power shortage is severe in the North, the electricity industry is forced to implement rotating power cuts to ensure system safety and distribute electricity equally to the regions.
