Quench your thirst

According to Hai Duong Newspaper reporters, before the exam scores were announced, parents and candidates were all feeling anxious, waiting, nervous, and pressured. Although they knew that the Hai Duong Department of Education and Training would only announce the scores at the end of the afternoon of June 12, many candidates had already logged into the online system to check their exam scores since early afternoon.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Huyen in Gia Loc town, whose child is taking the exam for Gia Loc High School, said that as the exam results date neared, she was more nervous, unable to eat, sleep, and worried than her children. The image of her children with tired faces and messy hair because they did not dare to cut their hair before the exam day is still as fresh as yesterday.

“Since the day the exam ended, my child has barely left the house. At noon on June 12, he did not eat, just sat in front of the computer waiting to see the score. It took a lot of encouragement for him to finally eat a piece of cake, which made me feel even more pressured,” said Ms. Huyen.

Nervous and tense since morning, early afternoon of June 12, Nguyen Thao Ngan in Hai Duong City logged into the Hai Duong online enrollment system software many times:https://haiduong-thpt.tsdc.edu.vn/to see the exam scores. It was not until 3 p.m. that Ngan was able to see the exam scores because at that time, the Hai Duong Department of Education and Training had just opened the system. After knowing the scores, she shouted happily because the exam scores exceeded the expected level, surprising the whole family.

Ngan said her literature score was higher than expected, while her math and English scores were slightly higher than her self-assessed scores. “Knowing my exam score has somewhat relieved my pressure, but I am anxiously waiting for the standard score for my first choice because this year many students have high scores. With 39.3 points, I hope to pass my first choice to Nguyen Van Cu High School,” Ngan said.

Ngan's mother excitedly said that no one in the family slept at noon waiting to see her child's score.

Similarly, Dong Khanh Chi's family in Kinh Mon was also happy to know her exam score. "She took the exam to get into Phuc Thanh High School. "I didn't think I would get 8.8 points in English. Adding up the three subjects, I got 40.3 points. Last year, the school's standard score for grade 10 was 30.7 points, so I'm confident I'll be admitted," Chi said.

Chi's mother said that when she knew her score, her daughter happily ran around the house. Although they knew they were still waiting for the official benchmark score, the whole family was very reassured with this score.

Many candidates also felt regret after learning that they had low scores. HMP in Kim Thanh district was disappointed and sad because her test score was not as expected. P.'s mother said that with 32 points, it would be difficult for her to pass Kim Thanh High School. However, the family hoped that she would be admitted to her second choice, Kim Thanh II High School.

Calm but still sad is the mood of many candidates who know for sure that they will not be able to get into any public high school. Although they determined from the beginning that they would study at a private school, many students still took the exam because they wanted to test themselves. Student TVH, from Nam Sach town, said that after leaving the math exam room on June 2, she knew she would fail because she did not do well in all 3 subjects. "I was a bit sad, but my ability was only that much, I tried my best. My parents did not put pressure on me but always encouraged me. I will try to study well at Phan Boi Chau private high school," H. shared.

High school is not the only way

Nguyen Tuan Hung from Kinh Mon town said that after many tests, his test scores did not improve much. His family decided not to let him study for the 10th grade entrance exam. Instead, Hung spent a lot of time researching vocational colleges to study.

"There are many paths to success, you just need to make an effort and strive. Like my uncle's son, who failed the 10th grade exam a few years ago, then studied at the Center for Vocational Education - Continuing Education, but he was very hard-working. He was in the top of his class for 3 years. He passed the university entrance exam to the joy of his whole family," Hung said.

Sharing the same view, many parents whose children are taking the 10th grade entrance exam this year said that each father and mother has also experienced the exam, so they understand how the exam scores will strongly affect their children. Therefore, even though they are under more pressure than their children, each parent still has to restrain their emotions and be the spiritual support for their children.

It can be seen that the path of learning is not a one-way straight line but will have twists and turns, and there will be times when each student takes a different path.

Mr. Do Duy Hung, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Hai Duong, said that in reality, many candidates who did not pass the entrance exam to public schools, studied at private schools but still passed the entrance exam to major universities, even won scholarships to study abroad. Many people did not go to high school but became successful after studying at vocational schools. They were exposed to the labor market early, many people started their own successful businesses. They are more resilient and active. High school is not the only path to success.

The most important thing is that each person needs to have passion and strive for the chosen path. If you are a good auto mechanic, a passionate and professional chef, you will be no less than a teacher or a doctor…

From June 13-14, candidates submit applications for exam review. From June 15-17, Hai Duong Department of Education and TrainingOrganize a review of the exam (if any). On June 18, the Department of Education and Training announced the results of the first admission. From June 19-20, candidates will complete the admission procedures for the first choice. From June 21-22, announce the results of the second choice. Before July 26, review the admission of non-public high schools and complete the admission of grade 10 high schools for the 2024-2025 school year.
