On July 10, according to information from the Vietnam Education Publishing House, in the 2024-2025 school year, the publishing house plans to implement a program to donate shared textbooks to secondary and primary schools nationwide.
Specifically, the Vietnam Education Publishing House donated about 1,000 textbooks to secondary schools nationwide. Each bookcase includes 90 sets of textbooks and 6 sets of teachers' books from grades 6 to 8, according to the 2018 General Education Program.
At the primary level, the Vietnam Education Publishing House continues to donate about 30,000 sets of textbooks and 2,000 sets of teachers' books for grade 5 according to the 2018 General Education Program to shared textbook shelves. Each bookshelf includes 30 sets of textbooks and 2 sets of teachers' books (according to the list of schools receiving shared textbook shelves at the primary level implemented in 2023).
For many years, the Vietnam Education Publishing House has implemented many programs to support books in general and textbooks in particular for students in difficult circumstances across the country. In particular, since 2020 (the first year of implementing the new General Education Program 2018), the Vietnam Education Publishing House has focused on donating new textbooks to students in difficult areas, remote areas.
Specifically, in 2020, implementing the program "Welcoming you to grade 1", Vietnam Education Publishing House donated nearly 20,000 textbooks and school supplies to students. In 2021 and 2022, Vietnam Education Publishing House will implement the program "Welcoming you to school", donating 50,000 sets of textbooks each year, worth about 10 billion VND/year. This program is implemented synchronously in 63 provinces and cities across the country to help poor students and students in difficult circumstances have learning materials.
In 2023 alone, in addition to the program "Following you to school" to donate about 100,000 sets of textbooks to students in difficult circumstances, the Vietnam Education Publishing House implemented a program to donate shared textbook cabinets to disadvantaged primary schools across the country from grades 1 to 4. Of which, 890 shared textbook cabinets corresponding to 106,800 sets of textbooks and 7,120 sets of teachers' books were donated.
Also in the 2023 school year, Vietnam Education Publishing House will implement a scholarship program for students who overcome difficulties and study well, awarding a total of 4,042 scholarships (each worth 2 million VND).
