Motorcycle sales in the first 6 months of 2024 were over 1.2 million units, down 1.4% over the same period in 2023.
According to the sales report of the Vietnam Association of Motorcycle Manufacturers (VAMM), the number of new motorbikes sold in the first half of 2024 reached 1,206,872 units. While in the same period last year, 1,223,614 units were sold. The number of new motorbikes purchased by Vietnamese people decreased slightly by 1.4%.
On average, Vietnamese people bought 4.6 motorbikes every minute in the first half of 2024. While in the first 6 months of 2023 it was 4.7 vehicles.
Comparing each quarter of 2024, the first quarter sold a total of 603,745 units, 618 more than the second quarter with 603,127 units. Meanwhile, in 2023, the number of new motorbikes sold in the first quarter was 634,688 units and in the second quarter was 588,926 units. Thus, the demand for motorbikes of Vietnamese people decreased in the second quarter.
Cumulative sales are the total sales of all 5 VAMM members in the Vietnamese market, not production numbers and do not include export numbers.
The Vietnam Association of Motorcycle Manufacturers (VAMM) has five members, including Honda, Yamaha, Piaggio, Suzuki and SYM. Of these, only Honda has announced detailed monthly sales figures.
In addition to the 5 VAMM members, the motorbike market has many other brands such as VinFast, Kymco, BMW Motorrad, Ducati, Triumph, Kawasaki, Royal Enfield, Harley-Davidson, KTM, Yadea but do not announce sales.
