Motorbikes are still the main means of transport in Vietnam.

According to the sales report of the Vietnam Association of Motorcycle Manufacturers (VAMM), the total number of new motorcycles sold in the first quarter of 2024 was 603,945 units. Compared to the same period in the first quarter of 2023 with 634,688 vehicles, the sales volume decreased by 4.88% and decreased by 11.47% compared to the fourth quarter of 2023 with 681,963 vehicles.

VAMM's sales volume in the first 3 months of 2024 is equivalent to an average consumption of 6,634.6 vehicles per day. Thus, every minute, about 4.6 new motorbikes are sold on the Vietnamese market.

VAMM has 5 members, including Honda, Piaggio, Suzuki, SYM and Yamaha. In addition to VAMM, the Vietnamese motorcycle market also has other brands, such as Ducati, BMW Motorrad, Harley-Davidson, Kawasaki, Triumph, KTM, Yadea, Royal Enfield and Vietnamese car manufacturer VinFast. The Piaggio Group alone owns motorcycle brands such as Vespa, Piaggio, Aprilia, Moto Guzzi.

Although sales have decreased, the demand for two-wheeled vehicles in Vietnam is still high. Because motorbikes are affordable for many customers and suitable for traffic conditions in Vietnam.

Cumulative sales are the total sales of all 5 VAMM members in the Vietnamese market, not production numbers and do not include export numbers.
