A business specializing in imported vehicles in Ho Chi Minh City has just brought in a batch of Yamaha 135LC and introduced it to domestic customers. This model is also known as Exciter in Vietnam or Spark in Thailand.

In 2014, Yamaha Vietnam discontinued the Exciter 135 and introduced a new replacement version with a 150cc engine, ending the nearly 10-year journey of the 135cc version on the market. In the following years, a few private businesses imported the Spark 135 from Thailand. The twin from Malaysia has never appeared.

Among the four largest motorcycle markets in Southeast Asia, namely Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia and Vietnam, Yamaha currently only sells its small underbone in Malaysia, where the Japanese brand leads the market share instead of its rival Honda. This is the first time a Yamaha 135LC has been imported to Vietnam from this country.

In terms of design, Yamaha's model has many similarities with the 2011 Exciter 135. For many Vietnamese customers, this is a model with a balanced, masculine design and is one of the most interesting to operate among the Exciter versions since its launch. The vehicle has separate LED headlights, designed like a hawk.

The imported model has a sturdy fairing design and quite good finishing. The saddle is 775 mm high, slightly layered, and the tail of the car is tapered and unique.

Like the Exciter 150 currently sold in Vietnam, the imported Yamaha 135LC also has a digital speedometer. The imported model's fuel tank has a capacity of 4.6 liters and 17-inch rims.

Yamaha 135LC in Vietnam has two versions: standard and SE (Special Edition). The SE version has gold painted rims, a small storage basket placed in front of the saddle and an integrated USB charging port for phones.

The Yamaha 135LC engine is SOHC, with a capacity of 12.5 horsepower and a maximum torque of 12.2 Nm. 4-speed gearbox with automatic clutch. The automatic clutch element, similar to popular manual transmission models, may be a minus point for customers who like the feeling of sporty driving and vehicle control.

The selling price of over 100 million VND of Yamaha 135LC is more than double that of two genuine manual clutch models currently on sale, Exciter 150 (44.8-55 million VND) and Honda Winner (46.2-50.6 million VND). Compared to imported models, Exciter and Winner have larger, more powerful engines and more technology.

According to the 135LC importer, this model has nostalgic value and is rare on the market because it is no longer officially distributed. The high price is only for a small group of financially strong customers who like the car's unique personality.

Yamaha 135LC or Exciter 135 is the first underbone model introduced in Vietnam in 2005. At that time, Exciter was Yamaha's product with the largest engine capacity. The masculine design and exciting operation (including the automatic clutch version) helped Exciter establish its number one position in the market in terms of market share. In 2016, Honda introduced Winner, creating a counterweight to Exciter. Up to now, the Honda model that replaced Exciter dominates the sales of the small-sized popular sport clutch motorbike segment.
