According to information from his family, artist Huu Do, a veteran face of Vietnamese cinema, television and theater, passed away on August 13 due to pulmonary embolism.
The funeral will take place at 9:15 a.m. on August 16 at the Funeral Home of the Vietnam-Soviet Friendship Hospital in Hanoi. The memorial service and funeral procession will take place on the same day. His body will be cremated at the Hoan Vu Crematorium in Van Dien and buried at Lac Hong Vien Cemetery in Hoa Binh.
Artist Huu Do was born in 1934 in Hanoi. He participated in acting when he was a student. In 1954, while studying at Nguyen Trai High School, he was chosen to play the role of Ca Khiet in the play"The cupboard"by students from major schools in Hanoi, performed at the Hanoi Opera House. He also acted in a number of semi-professional theater troupes in Hanoi such as“Red River Drama,” “Autumn,” “The East.”
In 1960, he worked at the Hanoi Drama Troupe. Some plays associated with the name of artist Huu Do include:“The Guillotine,” “The Guerrillas,” “Lam Son Rally.”
He then returned to the Railway General Department Art Troupe, holding the position of Head of the Troupe. Since 1970, artist Huu Do has worked at the Central Drama Troupe, now the Vietnam Drama Theater.
In addition to the stage, artist Huu Do also participated in television dramas. With a dignified and gentle appearance, he was often assigned many positive roles.
