Suffering from uterine fibroids, Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong in Zone 4, Nhi Chau Ward (Hai Duong City) still tries to support her paralyzed husband and 3 children to go to school.
Coming to the house that Ms. Huong and her husband are renting in residential area number 4, Nhi Chau ward (Hai Duong city), we felt sorry for her situation.
Ms. Huong (born in 1986) and Mr. Vu Van Thanh (born in 1977) got married in 2007. Life at that time was not rich but they had jobs and a small house to live in. After that, 3 children were born. The couple advised each other to work so that their children could have a full life. Unexpectedly, in 2012, while working, Mr. Thanh had a work accident and suffered a traumatic brain injury. Since then, his health has declined. Loving his wife and children, he still tries to do freelance jobs to take care of the family economy.
Just when he thought the difficulties would pass, in 2022, Mr. Thanh suffered a stroke, had to have surgery on the left side of his skull, and has been paralyzed ever since.
He now needs help with all his daily activities. He has to take medicine and have regular check-ups every month at a hospital in Hanoi. The house he and his wife used to own in Lane 139 Tran Hung Dao (Hai Duong City) was their only asset and had to be sold to pay for medicine and treatment. However, his condition has not improved much.
Difficulties kept coming. Two years ago, during a routine health check, Ms. Huong was diagnosed with uterine fibroids. Four months ago, she had surgery and regular monitoring.
Both husband and wife are sick, but Ms. Huong always tries to rise up to be a support for her children. Every day, she asks her mother-in-law to come over to look after Mr. Thanh so she can go to work. She works as a security guard at Long Hai Company Limited, earning 7 million VND per month. All the family's living expenses, medicine for her husband and herself, and the school fees for her 3 children depend on that.
Her eldest child is in 11th grade. The other two are in elementary school. Both her and her husband's families are not well off. The grandparents are old and have no pension, so life is difficult.
According to Mr. Nguyen Van Tan, Head of the Front Committee of Residential Area No. 4, Nhi Chau Ward (Hai Duong City), the family situation of Ms. Huong and Mr. Thanh is extremely difficult. The residential area as well as the local government also donated to support but only a part. "We hope that benefactors will help and support Ms. Huong's family during this especially difficult period," said Mr. Tan.
