In 2023, southern Türkiye was hit by a 7.8 magnitude earthquake that killed tens of thousands of people and flattened entire neighborhoods. Ali Bozoglan’s family, who lives in Hatay province, was lucky to escape. Although he was unharmed, the shock left him feeling unsafe in his ordinary home.

After losing his entire home, he decided to move to a quiet cave in the suburbs of the city, enjoying a peaceful life, away from the hustle and bustle.

Ali turned the cave into a miniature house with some basic furniture. He is satisfied with his current life because it is close to nature. Although he could not convince his family to live with him, Ali said he still feels happy even though he has to live alone.

Ali's unique lifestyle has earned him the nickname "prehistoric man". Ali believes that living in a cave is the right thing to do because it is very safe. He said that this cave has existed for thousands of years and has never collapsed even in an earthquake.

He also refused an offer from the government to move to a temporary house in the city. Sharing about life in the cave, Ali said he washed dishes, washed clothes, cleaned and prepared food himself.

Ali admits that living in the cave has its challenges, especially when faced with "uninvited guests" such as snakes and rats. However, he has learned to live in harmony with them.
