In a further forecast, the meteorological agency said that from May 11 to June 10, the average temperature across the country will generally be 0.5-1.5 degrees Celsius higher than the average of many years.
Total rainfall in the Northern and North Central regions is 15-30% higher than the average, while the Central Central, South Central, Central Highlands and Southern regions are approximately the same as the average for the same period.
At the same time, during the forecast period, in the North and Central regions, heat waves will continue to appear, with some days being extremely hot, and some places being especially hot. In the Central Highlands and the South, heat waves will tend to decrease from around the second half of May.
Widespread rainfall is also expected to increase gradually during the forecast period in the Northern and North Central regions. During the second half of May, the Southwest monsoon is expected to become stronger, so rainfall is likely to increase in the Central Highlands and Southern regions.
