Feast your eyes on thousands of roses at the Sa Pa Rose Festival

As a specialty of Sa Pa tourism every summer, the Rose Festival is held in the largest rose valley in Vietnam, spanning an area of ​​50,000 m2, part of the cable car station complex at Sun World Fansipan Legend tourist area. There are up to 300,000 rose bushes with millions of roses from 150 rose varieties, from climbing roses, Sa Pa old roses to imported roses.

In the rose garden, there is a sea of ​​roses with all colors and varieties filling all the paths, from the elegant yellow Juliet, the velvet red Black Baccarat and Rouge Royale, the light pink Spirit of Freedom to the purple Society, known as the mysterious queen... In particular, tourists love the pink arches, made of climbing rose trellises, a "specialty" of Sa Pa, creating an extremely poetic and romantic scene like in a fairy garden.

The opening ceremony of the Rose Festival was the solemn ceremony of offering flowers to Buddha, offering flowers from the rose valley, towards the Great Amitabha Buddha Statue on the sacred peak of Fansipan hidden in the clouds. The event was attended by 3 venerable monks, a procession of 230 senior monks and nuns, and 12 young men and women in costumes of 6 ethnic groups in Sa Pa. Hundreds of fresh flowers of all colors were arranged into splendid baskets and flower trays, solemnly performed by the delegation at Bao An Thien Tu, Bich Van Thien Tu, then solemnly and respectfully offered to the Great Buddha Statue and Kim Son Bao Thang Tu. The journey from the cable car station to the sacred peak of Fansipan had to go through 600 steep stone steps, but everyone had a peaceful smile on their lips, wholeheartedly turning to Buddha.

The festival was held in the Rose Valley, with a series of unique art performances that are specialties of the Northwest culture performed for visitors. The performances that were most enthusiastically received by visitors included the rose fashion show combined with flower dancing on stage and around the cable car station, and an excerpt from a Dao wedding.

Ms. Pham Thi Hoa, a tourist from Hanoi, said: “Last year I went to Sapa to attend the Rose Festival, it was really magnificent and romantic. This year, I was even more surprised because the scale of the festival was larger, there were more rare roses, and more attractive art performances. It was like being lost in a fairyland.”

Within the framework of the rose festival, the Northwest Cultural Space at the Fansipan Cable Car Station complex was officially inaugurated, with ancient houses brought back from villages in Sa Pa, along with culinary quintessence, handicrafts and typical songs and dances of the 5 ethnic groups living in Sa Pa. During the inauguration ceremony, 500 people and artisans from Sa Pa and Lai Chau ethnic groups brought an impressive performance with the ensemble performance of Am vang trong hoi, the medley of Inh La oi and xoe dance.

Not yet over the joy and impressions of the festival, many tourists excitedly joined in the vibrant festival atmosphere with the street parade "Dream of Sa Pa" in the town center for 3 days from April 27-29 at fixed times from 9:30 am to 11 am in the morning and 2-5 pm in the afternoon. The parade was performed by 750 actors who are folk artists and Sa Pa people along with 34 cars decorated splendidly with roses of Sun World Fansipan Legend tourist area. All actors appeared in traditional costumes of their ethnic groups such as Lu, Lao, Dao, Giay... and performed their most typical acts such as the Mong people's flute dance, fan dance and bamboo dance of Giay people, creating an extremely exciting festival space with bold Northwest colors.

Mr. Pham Thang - Hai Phong shared: "I have been to Sa Pa twice, but each time I mainly went to Fansipan and stayed in the town center, so I really did not experience enough of the Northwest culture. This year, just walking around the Rose Festival and watching the performances of ethnic people is enough to understand quite clearly about this extremely unique highland culture."

Not only attracting tourists with the Rose Festival, a series of events will be held throughout this summer such as the Upper Mother Temple Festival, the Horse Racing season in the Clouds along with many incentive programs, discounts up to 50% from hotels, car companies, restaurants ... to thank tourists on the occasion of the 120th anniversary of Sapa tourism. Sun World Fansipan Legend in particular reduces 120,000 VND/ticket for tourists, especially visitors from 6 Northwestern provinces, and Phu Tho, Vinh Phuc only have to buy cable car tickets for 300,000 VND/ticket. With a cool climate, many unique festivals and attractive incentive policies, Sa Pa promises to become the top destination in the North on April 30 and this summer.
