Spread and create new vitality for Bac Ninh Quan Ho Folk Songs

On the evening of November 23, at Kinh Bac Cultural Center, the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Fatherland Front Committee of Bac Ninh province held a ceremony to celebrate the 15th anniversary of Bac Ninh Quan Ho folk songs being recognized by UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage of humanity.

Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Thanh, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung, Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan and leaders of several localities attended the Celebration Ceremony.

Quan Ho folk songs are spreading more and more strongly.

Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of Bac Ninh Provincial People's Committee Vuong Quoc Tuan emphasized that in recent times, Bac Ninh province has had many policies to preserve and promote the value of the representative cultural heritage of humanity. Along with restoring the performance space of the original Quan Ho villages, developing Quan Ho practice villages, establishing many Quan Ho clubs, the province has issued many mechanisms and preferential policies for the original Quan Ho villages, Quan Ho practice villages, Quan Ho folk song clubs; artisans, Bac Ninh Quan Ho folk song artists...

In the province, there are currently 44 original Quan Ho villages, 150 practicing Quan Ho villages, nearly 400 Quan Ho Folk Song Clubs, with tens of thousands of people of all ages participating; of which more than 600 people are capable of teaching. Nationwide and abroad, hundreds of Bac Ninh Quan Ho Folk Song Clubs have been established and maintained regular activities. That shows that Bac Ninh Quan Ho Folk Songs are becoming more and more "famous" and have a strong spread.

The Chairman of the People's Committee of Bac Ninh province emphasized that to achieve today's results, along with the attention and direction of the Central Government, the coordination and assistance of provinces and cities..., there is also the strong and effective leadership and direction of Party committees at all levels, the government, the participation of organizations, the entire political system in the province, the Quan Ho village community; the consultation and proposal work of state management agencies, of experts researching and collecting Bac Ninh Quan Ho cultural heritage and especially the great role of Quan Ho folk artists - the "Living Human Treasures" who have well performed the mission of preserving, teaching, introducing and promoting the unique cultural heritage of Kinh Bac homeland.

Developing performance spaces, expanding heritage practice environments

On behalf of the Party and State leaders, Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Thanh commended and congratulated the great and comprehensive achievements that the Party Committee, government and people of Bac Ninh province have achieved in socio-economic development in general, including the task of preserving and promoting the value of the representative cultural heritage of humanity - Bac Ninh Quan Ho folk songs.

Faced with the trend of globalization and the strong development of communication technology, the emergence of many contemporary art forms, the introduction and exchange with many cultures, the Vice Chairman of the National Assembly said that the work of preserving and promoting the cultural heritage values ​​of Bac Ninh Quan Ho folk songs faces many difficulties and challenges. In particular, the interest of the people, especially the young, in traditional art and culture is fading; the age of the ancient Quan Ho artisans is getting older, while the next generation of artisans is not many; some policies to support groups and individuals participating in practicing traditional art or promoting heritage values ​​associated with economic development have not kept up with reality...

Emphasizing that the National Assembly and the Government have paid attention and had policies to effectively implement the Party's resolutions and policies on building and developing an advanced Vietnamese culture imbued with national identity, the Vice Chairman of the National Assembly hopes that the Party Committees and authorities of Bac Ninh province will continue to pay due attention to the work of preserving and promoting the values ​​of Bac Ninh Quan Ho folk songs. In particular, the province needs to focus on concretizing and organizing the implementation of the Party's policies, the State's policies and laws, promptly promulgating relevant mechanisms and policies, especially policies to honor and reward Quan Ho artisans, especially those who are old and weak. At the same time, continue to promote and expand forms of teaching to the younger generation, building the next generation of artisans; Maintain the activities of young Quan Ho clubs, promote the role and responsibility of artisans, Lien Anh and Lien Chi in transmitting and maintaining forms of community cultural activities, spreading Quan Ho space to students, cadres, civil servants, workers and grassroots art troupes.

To do that, Bac Ninh province needs resources to invest in infrastructure, develop performance spaces, and expand the heritage practice environment so that artisans and Quan Ho folk song lovers have the opportunity to express and develop their talents. In particular, the province encourages and respects new experiments and artistic creations with Quan Ho folk song melodies that are suitable for modern life, increasing the spread and contributing to creating new vitality for Bac Ninh Quan Ho folk songs; Strengthening the application of information technology and digital transformation in propaganda and promotion work to adapt to the context of international integration and globalization trends; promoting cooperation and organizing cultural activities and artistic exchanges domestically and internationally to promote the development of Bac Ninh Quan Ho folk songs.

On this occasion, the Prime Minister awarded Certificates of Merit to 2 collectives and 2 individuals of Bac Ninh province with outstanding achievements in preserving and promoting the value of Bac Ninh Quan Ho Folk Songs heritage; 5 collectives with outstanding achievements in preserving and promoting the value of Bac Ninh Quan Ho Folk Songs heritage were commended by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

After the solemn ceremony, a special art program with the theme "Reunion of Bamboo and Mai" was elaborately staged with the participation of the Lien Anh and Lien Chi of Bac Ninh Quan Ho Folk Song Theater, artists from the Cultural Center of Tay Ninh Province, Ha Tinh Province, Vietnam Contemporary Arts Theater, Quan Ho Mang Non Club of the Provincial Youth Cultural Center; Meritorious Artists Tan Nhan, Trong Tan, Bui Le Man... The art program consisted of 4 segments: Listening to the Quan Ho song "Nguoi Oi" (people's song) to find the way back; Vi - Giam song "deep in nostalgia"; Deep art of Don Ca Tai Tu and Bac Ninh happy on the festival day, showing the everlasting vitality of Bac Ninh Quan Ho Folk Song - a representative intangible cultural heritage of humanity and the unique cultural values ​​of each type of folk song bearing the mark of the region.
