Deputy head of department in Ca Mau prosecuted for sexually abusing female student while fixing water pipes

On the evening of January 3, according to a reporter's source, the Investigation Police Agency of Tran Van Thoi District Police, Ca Mau Province, initiated a case, prosecuted the accused, and temporarily detained Cao Van Nghiep, Deputy Head of the Ethnic Affairs Department of this district, to investigate the act of molesting a person under 16 years old.

"Working with the police, Nghiep admitted to the above actions and explained that he considered the female student as his own child, so he acted intimately," the above source added.

According to initial information, the defendant Nghiep's family owns a rented house in Tran Van Thoi town, Tran Van Thoi district. At the end of December 2024, while repairing the water pipes of a rented room for a 10th grade female student, Nghiep sexually assaulted the female student twice.

After that, the female student called her family to report the incident. Immediately, her relatives traveled dozens of kilometers from Ngoc Hien district, Ca Mau province to where her daughter was staying and reported the incident to the police. During the investigation, the police arrested Nghiep.

Defendant Nghiep has been suspended from party activities and temporarily suspended from his position as Deputy Head of the Ethnic Affairs Department of Tran Van Thoi district.
