Lao Cai Provincial Police have just prosecuted and issued an arrest warrant for Mr. Le Ngoc Duong, Chairman of Muong Khuong District People's Committee, to investigate the crime of "Abusing position and power while performing official duties".

On the afternoon of August 4, the Office of the Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee officially informed the media about the police's temporary detention and search of the residence and workplace of Mr. Le Ngoc Duong, currently Chairman of the People's Committee of Muong Khuong District, Lao Cai Province.
Information from the Investigation Police Agency of Lao Cai Provincial Police said that this unit is investigating the case of "Violating regulations on research, exploration, and exploitation of natural resources; Money laundering and Abusing positions and powers while performing official duties" occurring in Village 2, Dong Tuyen Commune, Lao Cai City, Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee and related agencies and units according to Decision No. 02/QD-CSKT dated July 3, 2023 of the Investigation Police Agency of Lao Cai Provincial Police.
Based on the investigation results, on August 4, the Investigation Police Agency of Lao Cai Provincial Police issued Decisions to prosecute the accused, Arrest Warrants for temporary detention and Search Warrants for the residence and workplace of Le Ngoc Duong, born in 1969; registered permanent residence at No. 026, Le Lai Street, Group 26, Kim Tan Ward, Lao Cai City, Lao Cai Province; former Head of the Mineral Management Department, former Deputy Director of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Lao Cai Province; currently Chairman of the People's Committee of Muong Khuong District, Lao Cai Province, to investigate the crime of "Abusing position and power while performing official duties" according to the provisions of Clause 3, Article 281, Penal Code 1999.
The above decisions and orders were approved by the People's Procuracy of Lao Cai province.
Currently, the Investigation Police Agency of Lao Cai Provincial Police is coordinating with the People's Procuracy of Lao Cai Province to investigate and clarify according to the provisions of law.
