On the afternoon of September 12, the State Bank of Vietnam, Hai Duong province branch, held a meeting with commercial banks in the province about the damage to banks and customers caused by storm No. 3.
According to preliminary statistics on the damage to banks and customers of credit institutions after the storm, although there were preparations and proactive storm prevention, due to the intensity of the storm, all banks in the area suffered damage to their facilities. The main damage was to signs, billboards, roofs, garages, glass doors, rolling doors, trees, and some ATMs were out of service due to storms, flooding, and power outages. There were no casualties, and the vault system was safe.
According to preliminary statistics, there are currently about 700 customers with a total outstanding debt of about 5,000 billion VND affected by storm No. 3. These customers mainly borrow capital to invest in rural agriculture, construction materials business and wharfs...
Faced with the severe impact of storm No. 3 on customers, banks have proactively reviewed and summarized the losses of customers who are borrowing capital to promptly apply support measures and remove difficulties for customers such as: restructuring debt repayment terms, considering interest rate exemptions and reductions, continuing to provide new loans to restore production and business after the storm according to current regulations...
In the coming time, the bank will continue to quickly review each customer case, clarify the extent of damage, grasp the wishes and suggestions of customers to have an overall assessment of the damage with customers in the entire system to consider support measures according to authority; share and accompany people and businesses to recover after the storm.
