Early spring production momentum in Quang Ninh coal industry

In the exciting atmosphere welcoming the new year of Giap Thin 2024, Vietnam National Coal - Mineral Industries Group (TKV) received good news at the beginning of the year about the production and business activities, signaling a new successful year for the coal industry.

With the determination to ensure coal output to serve the market, demonstrating responsibility and the working spirit of "welcoming Tet but not forgetting the task", Hon Gai Coal Selection Company organized the opening ceremony of the spring earlier than other units of the Vietnam National Coal - Mineral Industries Group. Right from the 2nd day of the Lunar New Year, 100% of the company's staff and workers returned to normal production.

This year, Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industries Group increased the output of imported coal for blending and supplying to power households. Therefore, the task of Hon Gai Coal Selection is also heavier. The proportion of imported coal blending in the technological chain is also larger. To complete the task, since the end of last year, Hon Gai Coal Selection has developed a coal blending plan, ensuring the type and volume delivered to customers according to signed contracts. The bustling production atmosphere right from the first day of the new spring has signaled a favorable year for Hon Gai Coal Selection in carrying out the task of consuming 11.9 million tons of coal.

Mr. Do Ngoc Tu, Deputy Director of the company said: Every day we are consuming over 20,000 tons of coal. With the preparation of equipment lines and coal inventory before Tet, we have enough types of coal to pour into vehicles at Lang Khanh port to deliver to customers, especially thermal power plants.

At Mao Khe Coal Joint Stock Company, on the morning of January 6, when spring was still everywhere, miners of the Mining Workshop 3 hurriedly returned to the mine to work. This year, Mao Khe Coal Company is continuing to organize coal mining according to the 1.6 million tons/year project, the stage of full recovery.

As one of the three main tunneling units of Mao Khe Coal, at this stage, the tunneling work to prepare for production of Tunneling Workshop 3 encountered many obstacles. The tunneling areas undertaken by the workshop were mainly at the end of the 1.6 million tons of coal/year project, so they were about 3km apart. Therefore, travel, management, installation of equipment, materials, and site direction were all very difficult. The geological conditions were constantly changing, the pressure from large tunnels and increasing mine gas also frequently affected the construction progress of the unit.

"To complete the task, in the past time, the workshop has maximized the capacity of tunneling equipment and mobilized the intelligence and creativity of workers during the construction process. Currently, the tunneling technology that the unit is applying is drilling and blasting, using YT30 pneumatic drilling equipment, combined with XD32 rock excavators and transfer bridges. These machines and equipment are considered to be the support to help the workshop increase productivity and reduce manual labor," said Mr. Nguyen Van Dang, Deputy Manager of Tunneling Workshop 3.

With the efforts of TKV and coal industry units, the group's officers and workers welcomed the Lunar New Year 2024 in a warm, friendly atmosphere, ensuring security and order.

During the Lunar New Year, units in the whole group proactively carried out the management of resources, mine boundaries, protected targets, works, assets, and workers' dormitories to ensure security, order, and safety; organized thoughtful care for workers to have a warm and happy Tet with their families. 100% of units arranged production duty, maintained processing, prepared coal sources, ensured coal consumption as well as prepared conditions, ensured ventilation and drainage for production right after the Tet holiday.

On the 6th day of Tet, the units held spring opening ceremonies, welcoming workers from the countryside to Quang Ninh to work, thanks to which, the rate of workers returning to production was very high. To encourage workers to return to work after the Lunar New Year holiday, leaders of coal units held meetings and gave lucky money to workers during the first shift.

Mr. Nguyen Van Hung, Party Secretary and Director of Uong Bi Coal Company, said: With a happy and excited spirit after the Tet holiday, Uong Bi Coal workers have returned to production at a rate of over 95%. On the first day of spring (the 6th day of the Lunar New Year of Giap Thin), we assigned company leaders to go to each house to hand over shifts and encourage workers in the first production shift of the new year. We believe that with the enthusiastic production spirit of the workers, Uong Bi Coal will complete the plan to exploit 133,000 tons of coal and dig a new 1,650m of tunnel to prepare for production in February 2024.

According to TKV, at the end of the first working day of the new year of Giap Thin, the units produced 130,000 tons of raw coal, dug 900m of tunnels, excavated over 450,000m3 of earth and rock, and consumed 135,000 tons of coal.
