Today, December 24, the national high school exam for excellent students for the 2024-2025 school year officially opened at 68 examination councils nationwide with 6,482 candidates registered to take the exam, an increase of 663 candidates compared to the 2023-2024 school year.
This year's exam includes 13 subjects: math, physics, chemistry, biology, computer science, literature, history, geography, English, Russian, French, Chinese and Japanese. This is the first year Japanese is held.
This year is also the first time the Ministry of Education and Training has applied the method of transporting exam papers through the Government Cipher Committee system nationwide. The transport of exam papers took place smoothly and quickly.
Tomorrow, December 25, candidates will take written exams in math, physics, chemistry, biology, literature, history, geography, English, Russian, French, Chinese, Japanese and computer programming for information technology.
On December 26, candidates continued to take written exams in math, physics, chemistry, and biology; oral exams in English, Russian, French, Chinese, and Japanese; and computer programming exams in information technology.
The exam content follows the 2018 General Education Program. For foreign language exams: Russian, French, Chinese, Japanese, the exam follows the current General Education Program and Official Dispatch No. 4171/BGDĐT-GDTrH dated August 26, 2022 of the Ministry of Education and Training guiding the implementation of the specialized program for high school subjects.
From the 2023-2024 school year, the Ministry of Education and Training will implement new regulations, increasing the prize ratio of the national high school excellent student selection exam to ensure compliance with the regulations of regional and international Olympic competitions. Accordingly, 60% of the prizes will be consolation prizes or higher; in which, the total number of first, second, and third prizes will not exceed 60% of the total number of prizes, and the number of first prizes will not exceed 5% of the total number of prizes.
Exam results are expected to be announced at the end of January 2025.
Hai Duong province has 110 candidates taking the exam, an increase of 2 candidates compared to the previous exam. Candidates taking the exam are from 11 teams, including: math, physics, chemistry, biology, literature, history, geography, information technology, English, Russian and French.
This year's exam, all candidates continue to be students of Nguyen Trai High School for the Gifted. The Ministry of Education and Training has sent a delegation of officials and teachers from the provinces of Hai Duong, Nghe An, Dien Bien and Ha Nam to invigilate the exam at the Hai Duong Provincial Examination Council.
After this exam, excellent candidates will be selected to participate in round 2 to select a team of excellent students to compete in international and regional Olympics.
At the national high school student selection exam for the 2023-2024 school year, Hai Duong had 108 candidates taking the exam, winning a total of 89 prizes, an increase of 18 prizes compared to the previous school year, including 3 first prizes, 19 second prizes, 32 third prizes, and 35 consolation prizes.
In terms of the number of awards, Hai Duong ranked 5th nationwide, up 1 place compared to the previous school year. In terms of the quality of awards, Hai Duong ranked 12th out of 63 provinces and cities, up 19 places.
