Regarding the case of Vietnamese people killed in Bangkok, Thailand, at a press conference held on the evening of July 16, Lieutenant General Thiti Saengsawang, Commander of the Bangkok Metropolitan Police, said that the preliminary investigation initially confirmed that the victims did not commit suicide but were murdered.

Authorities also said the victims did not check in at the same time, with seven people initially booking five rooms at the Grand Hyatt Erawan Hotel in Pathum Wan district.

According to the hotel, on July 13, there was 1 check-in and on July 14, there was 1 check-in, with a total of only 5 guests checking in to 5 rooms, including 4 rooms on the 7th floor and 1 room on the 5th floor.

According to the hotel, the victims checked out of four rooms on the 7th floor at noon on July 15, so all their luggage was gathered in one room on the 5th floor, where the bodies were found.

At around 1pm on July 15, the victims ordered six meals. However, there were no signs that the victims had touched the food. However, authorities discovered that there were drinks in five teacups placed on the counter and one cup placed on the dining table, which may have been used.

Authorities then collected containers, spoons, forks, food and related items for testing.

Lieutenant Colonel Thiti emphasized: “Initially, the investigation team found no signs of a fight, and the victims had no external injuries. The objects were still normal, and there were no broken dishes.”

According to Mr. Thiti, only one victim had a wound on his face. However, this injury could have been caused by the person falling and hitting a hard object and this was not the main cause of death.

“We need to find out the motive for the incident. What we can prove at this time is that the victims did not commit suicide but were murdered by others,” Mr. Thiti stressed.

Currently, the investigation agency is focusing on examining the victims' bodies to clarify the cause of death; at the same time, it is hypothesizing the investigation about the 7th person who initially registered for a hotel room with the victims.

In addition, the investigation agency is collecting CCTV footage from when the victims got off the plane, as well as in areas near the hotel to clarify the incident.
