On July 16, 6 people were found dead at a hotel in Bangkok, including Vietnamese citizens.
According to initial information, the police in Lumpini area in Bangkok received a report of the incident at the Grand Hyatt Erawan Hotel in Pathum Wan district at 5:30 p.m. After arriving at the scene, the police found three men and three women dead in a room on the fifth floor of the hotel with no signs of a struggle. The people's luggage was found near the front door.
Initial investigations have identified the victims as two Vietnamese Americans and four Vietnamese nationals. Initial evidence at the scene suggests that the six victims may have died from poison, but it is unclear whether they were poisoned or committed suicide. Thai police are examining CCTV footage and questioning witnesses to gather more clues.
Thai Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin went directly to the scene of the incident.
Vietnamese Ambassador to Thailand Pham Viet Hung said that embassy staff are working with local authorities to verify the incident as well as to carry out necessary citizen protection work.
