On October 6, an Israeli military spokesman said the country continued to issue evacuation warnings to residents of about 25 areas in southern Lebanon.

The Israeli military called on residents in the above areas to immediately move to the north of Awali.

This is seen as a move that signals that Israel may intensify the ground campaign launched last week against the Hezbollah Islamist movement in Lebanon.

Also on October 6, Lebanon announced that it would postpone the start of the new school year amid Israel's increased airstrikes on Hezbollah targets in the south and many other locations across the country.

Lebanon's Education Minister Abbas Halabi said the start of the new school year for more than 1 million students will be postponed to November 4 to guard against "security risks" during this time.

According to the Lebanese Ministry of Health, on October 5 alone, Israeli airstrikes across Lebanon killed 23 people and injured 93 others.

By the night of October 5, Israeli forces continued to launch airstrikes on other locations in the southern suburbs of the capital Beirut.

There are currently no reports of casualties following this airstrike.

Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati has called for "pressure on Israel" to establish a ceasefire, affirming his support for US and French efforts to seek a ceasefire in the country.

On October 6, Lebanese Foreign Minister Najib Mikati had a phone call with his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan to discuss the latest security developments and humanitarian situation in Lebanon.

During the phone call, Türkiye's top diplomat affirmed Ankara's readiness to support Beirut's humanitarian needs.
