The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said on October 5 that they had killed two senior members of the Hamas military wing in two separate airstrikes in Lebanon last night.

According to the IDF's announcement on the social network Telegram, the IAF carried out an airstrike that killed Muhammad Hussein Ali al-Mahmoud, who directed Hamas' offensive operations in the West Bank.

At the same time, the IAF also carried out an airstrike that killed another senior Hamas member, Said Alaa Naif Ali, head of the Hamas military wing in Lebanon.

According to sources revealed to Reuters news agency, senior Hezbollah member Hashem Safieddine, who was supposed to replace leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah who was assassinated by Israel earlier, has been uncontactable since October 4.

On the evening of October 3, Israel stepped up airstrikes on the outskirts of Beirut, the area where Safieddine is believed to be hiding.

Israeli media said Safieddine was likely killed in these airstrikes.

Regarding the situation in Lebanon, the Israeli army announced on October 4 that it had killed Mohammad Rashid Sakafi - head of Hezbollah's media network - in a "precise, intelligence-based strike" in Beirut the day before.
