Honda introduces Super Cub 50 Final Edition in the domestic market, only accepting orders in November.
The Super Cub 50 Final Edition is the final version of the Honda model that is popular with many customers. The vehicle has a familiar blue color, reminiscent of the Super Cub line from many years ago.
Details such as the front badge, side badge and key are all specially designed, while the rear carrier, chain case and swingarm are painted in the same blue as the body. In addition, the clock bezel and exhaust cover are chrome-plated, the bike has a two-tone grey-black finish, creating a special feel.
The Super Cub series - which began production in 1958 - included the Super Cub C100 and Super Cub 50. The Japanese company's line of motorcycles has become famous and popular in many different markets around the world thanks to its versatility, ease of use, fuel economy, and durability. In Japan, this line of vehicles is generally used for the purpose of transporting goods, delivering newspapers, fast food, etc.
However, the popularity of 50cc or smaller vehicles has been under threat in recent years due to the development of electric bicycles and electric motorbikes.
In 1980, about 1.98 million motorcycles measuring 50cc or smaller were shipped, but the number dropped to only about 90,000 by 2023, according to the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association (JAMA).
Honda has found it difficult to produce small motorcycles that meet new Japanese emissions regulations, which are in line with stricter global emissions standards scheduled to take effect in November 2025.
Accordingly, the Super Cub 50 model currently using a 49cc engine will stop production, but the Super Cub 110 will continue to be produced.
In Japan, Honda will take orders for a limited time, November 8-24. Suggested retail price is $1,940. Quantity is 2,000 units.
