After Hanoi National University of Education announced the admission scores for regular university admissions based on the 2024 high school graduation exam scores, many people were surprised by the interest of candidates in the education sector when the admission scores of all majors of the school increased. There are 3 majors with admission scores above 29, including: Literature Education, History Education; Geography Education.

Of which, Literature Pedagogy and History Pedagogy achieved 29.3 points, 0.88 points higher than the highest standard score of last year (History Pedagogy - 28.42 points).

With these majors, on average, each subject has 9.7 points and candidates still fail if there are no bonus or incentive points.

For the Literature Pedagogy major, this year's benchmark scores increased by 2.9 and 1.47 points compared to last year, respectively, for each combination.

For History Pedagogy, this year's benchmark score increased by 1.54 and 0.88 points compared to last year, respectively, for each combination.

Music Pedagogy (this year's benchmark score is 24.05) has the strongest increase in benchmark scores, 5.55 and 4.5 points respectively for each combination (last year's benchmark score was 18.5-19.55 depending on the combination).

Biology Education also has a standard score increase of 3.89 points in the D08 group and 1.81 points in the B00 group...

An official of Hanoi National University of Education said that this year, the admission scores for the school's majors based on high school graduation exam scores are high because the school recruits students using many methods other than this method.

"Partly it could be due to the test questions, the general score range increased, leading to an increase in the benchmark scores of all schools," he said.

Previously, the forecast of an increase in the benchmark score in 2024 was also shared by Dr. Tran Ba Trinh, Head of Training Department of Hanoi National University of Education.

According to Mr. Trinh, the benchmark score of a major depends on at least 3 factors: The candidate's high school graduation exam score; The quota of each major (the quota of a major is usually inversely proportional to the benchmark score); The attraction of the major/school is shown through the number of registrations for admission.

Through the analysis of the 2024 high school graduation exam score distribution announced by the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET), most subjects and admission combinations by block are higher than last year.

Meanwhile, for teacher training majors, the quota for some majors of Hanoi National University of Education granted by the Ministry of Education and Training this year has decreased, such as Physics Pedagogy, Chemistry Pedagogy, and Biology Pedagogy.

Each of these majors has reduced its quota by about half compared to last year, because these used to be compulsory subjects in middle school and high school, but have now become elective subjects, leading to a lower demand for teachers.

According to the reporter's statistics, the number of admission quotas based on high school graduation exam scores for the majors of Literature Pedagogy, History Pedagogy, and Geography Pedagogy of Hanoi National University of Education in 2024 has decreased sharply compared to last year.

Specifically, the quota for Literature Pedagogy this year (80) decreased by 50 compared to last year. Similarly, the quota for History Pedagogy this year (12) decreased by 13 compared to last year; Geography Pedagogy this year (42) decreased by 32 compared to last year.

Thus, it can be seen that the general level of high school graduation exam scores of students is increasing, while the pedagogical quota is decreasing, from which there are at least 2 factors to create a trend of increasing standard scores.

Not to mention, the number of applications to Hanoi Pedagogical University this year is about 40,000, while the target is 4,000.

In 2024, Hanoi National University of Education will enroll 4,013 students according to 5 methods: Admission based on high school graduation exam results; Direct admission of students participating in excellent student teams, students from specialized high schools, students with international foreign language and IT certificates; Considering high school transcripts; Considering combined high school transcripts/high school graduation exam results/competency assessment test results with aptitude test; Considering the results of the competency assessment test organized by the School.

Of which, 50% will be selected using the 2024 high school graduation exam scores.
