The Minister of Health said that partners from WHO and UNICEF will provide Vietnam with emergency support of over 200,000 doses of the 5-in-1 vaccine.

The information was shared by Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan on the afternoon of June 14, at a seminar on health work in the second quarter.

At the seminar, the press raised many questions about the shortage of vaccines in the Expanded Immunization Program (EPI) that provides free vaccinations to the people.

Minister Lan said that in the 2021-2022 period, because there is no longer a health-population target program, there is no content to allocate funds for the Ministry of Health to purchasevaccine.

The National Assembly has issued a decision on allocating the central budget for 2021. Accordingly, the Ministry of Health is assigned the estimated source from the central budget to make purchases for the procurement program.vaccine, guaranteed for 2021 and 2022.

In 2023, because the health-population target program is converted into a regular expenditure program of localities, according to the provisions of the Law on Public Investment, the Ministry of Health is not allowed to allocate the state budget to carry out this task.

Ms. Lan said that with the responsibility of the industry, the Ministry of Health really wants to continue carrying out this task to ensure vaccination nationwide, ensuring fairness for women and children.

Minister Dao Hong Lan answers press questions on the afternoon of June 14.

"Just because this locality has more money, children are not vaccinated."vaccinemore expensive, and in areas with less funding, children are vaccinatedvaccineless money, not even vaccinated," said Ms. Lan.

Through reviewing the source of vaccines transferred from 2022, the Ministry of Health confirmed that there is only a shortage.vaccine"5 in 1" from the end of February until now (prevention of diphtheria, whooping cough, tetanus, meningitis/pneumonia caused by HiB bacteria and hepatitis B). This isvaccineImport, because in 2022, bidding and purchasing procedures were carried out according to regulations but there were no contractors participating, so there was a shortage.

Ms. Lan affirmed that "there is no phenomenon of the Ministry of Health pushing responsibility down to the localities or the disease of fear of responsibility spreading to the Ministry of Health, so it pushes responsibility".

According to the Minister, the Government has decided to assign the Ministry of Health to proactively develop a pricing plan and send it to the Ministry of Finance for early appraisal. This is the basis for placing orders.vaccine"5 in 1". During deployment and waiting for purchasevaccineAccording to the State budget, the Ministry of Health has worked with partners to find sources of support of all kinds.vaccineis missing.

"The World Health Organization (WHO) Western Pacific Region, WHO in Vietnam, and UNICEF Vietnam have just announced that they will provide Vietnam with emergency support of over 200,000 doses ofvaccine5 in 1 for children", the Minister informed.

Along with the funding of more than 65,000 doses domestically, Ms. Lan said that "it will ensurevaccineto prioritize vaccination for children in remote areas where access tovaccine5 in 1 service". The Ministry of Health units are carrying out quick procedures to receive this aid.
