The effectiveness of the model "Saving and following Uncle Ho's example" at the Military Command of Hai Duong province

Regularly on the first Thursday of the month, before the “Political and Cultural Spiritual Day” activity, each officer, employee and soldier of the Political Department (Hai Duong Provincial Military Command) sets aside some loose change to put into the unit’s savings box. Professional military captain Nguyen Van Quyen (Propaganda Department) shared: “This activity is not only carried out on the Political and Cultural Spiritual Day, but every day when I have loose change, I voluntarily put it into the savings box. Although the amount is not large, only 10,000 or 20,000 VND, small amounts add up to a lot. I personally feel happy because I feel that my work is meaningful, helping comrades in difficult circumstances, who are sick and ill.”

Having regularly received the attention, help and encouragement of the officers and soldiers of the provincial armed forces, recently, professional soldier Captain Chu Van Huy (Transportation Platoon, Logistics Department) has felt more secure in his treatment. Mr. Huy has a very difficult situation, has cancer and has been treated for a long time in hospitals, the cost is very expensive. "Thanks to the attention, encouragement and financial support of the officers and employees of the unit, I have more motivation to overcome difficulties in life, feel secure and confident in my treatment", Mr. Huy shared.

In order for the model of "Saving following Uncle Ho's example" to permeate and spread throughout agencies and units, the Party Committee and Military Command of Hai Duong province have directed to promote propaganda about the significance of studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style. Focus on promoting groups and individuals with new and creative ways of doing things, and examples of learning from Uncle Ho through simple actions.

The units have closely coordinated propaganda through activities, study sessions, competitions, performances, internal radio broadcasts, billboard systems, and visual slogans to continuously raise awareness and responsibility of cadres, party members, soldiers of the provincial armed forces and local people.

From 2021 to present, agencies and units have regularly maintained 17 savings boxes and have saved more than 700 million VND; organized visits and presented gifts to more than 100 sick officers and soldiers; supported 20 military families in difficult circumstances.

Colonel Bui Vinh Duoc, Deputy Political Commissar of the Hai Duong Provincial Military Command, said that to implement this model, the Party Committee and the Provincial Military Command mobilized cadres, employees and soldiers to save every day and every month from the general operating fund of the agency, unit and each individual to put into the savings box. The model is implemented on a voluntary and self-conscious basis. The purpose is to help cadres, employees and soldiers currently working (standing forces) who are in difficult circumstances and have serious illnesses requiring long-term treatment. At the same time, it aims to build a united bloc in each agency and unit. Absolutely do not call for or mobilize contributions by administrative measures. Every month, the specialized department will synthesize and announce the amount of money received on the Day of Politics, Spiritual Culture or Democratic Dialogue to ensure publicity and transparency.

The model of "Saving and following Uncle Ho's example" is one of the practical and effective activities of the armed forces of Hai Duong province in implementing Conclusion No. 01-KL/TW on continuing to implement Directive No. 05-CT/TW of the Politburo on promoting the study and following of Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and lifestyle, which has brought profound political significance, created a widespread influence, demonstrated humanity, love for comrades and teammates, helping them to rise up and stabilize their lives.
