Along with that, review to ensure that fees, interest rates, and interest calculation methods for each type of issued card comply with the regulations of the State Bank and relevant laws. Be public, transparent, provide full information, and take measures to ensure that customers have grasped information about their rights and obligations, fees, interest rates, interest calculation methods, especially for credit cards, and changes (if any) during the process of customers using the card.
The provincial branches of the State Bank also require credit institutions to review the entire process of handling inquiries and complaints in accordance with regulations. When complaints or feedback from customers arise during the use of cards, card-issuing organizations must handle them in accordance with the correct procedures and regulations, ensuring promptness, timeliness, and resolution, not allowing the case to drag on, affecting the legitimate rights of customers as well as the image and reputation of the bank.
In case of detecting unusual problems in the use of customers' cards (no transactions, long-term overdue debts...), through the process of control and supervision, the card issuing organization needs to proactively inform customers, coordinate with relevant parties to handle promptly, ensuring that the legitimate rights of customers and banks are not affected.
This is a move after the incident of a customer in Quang Ninh borrowing 8.5 million VND from an Eximbank credit card and having to pay 8.8 billion VND after 11 years, which caused a stir in public opinion recently.
According to the latest report from the State Bank of Vietnam provincial branch, as of February 28, 2024, banks in Hai Duong have issued 4,369,000 cards, an increase of 1.2% compared to the end of 2023.
