By hacking the Facebook accounts of about 500 victims nationwide, the suspects then impersonated the victims to defraud and appropriate a total of nearly 5 billion VND.
The Criminal Police Department of Da Nang City Police is temporarily detaining 4 people to continue investigating the act of fraud and property appropriation. These are people from the northern provinces who came to Da Nang and were discovered by the Criminal Police Department of Da Nang City Police.
Through the work of grasping the local situation and receiving reports from a number of victims that their social network accounts (Facebook) were hacked and taken over by suspects, who then impersonated the victims to defraud and appropriate property.

Conducting initial verification, Da Nang City Police determined that the case showed signs of using computer networks, telecommunications networks, and electronic devices to commit property appropriation, so they assigned detectives to collect information and identify suspects.
The police identified the suspects with signs of suspected criminal activity as: Nguyen Quang Duc (28 years old), residing in Trieu Tai commune, Trieu Phong district, Quang Tri province; Tran Le Quang Vu (27 years old); Le Phuoc Thanh (33 years old) and Nguyen Xuan Dung (33 years old), all residing in Quang Tri town, Quang Tri province, in addition to Tran Viet Long (30 years old), residing in Ban Gian commune, Lap Thach district, Vinh Phuc province.
During the investigation, it was found that the suspects were operating in an organized, inter-provincial manner and had appropriated large sums of money..., the Criminal Police Department of Da Nang City Police established a special project to combat them.
On June 20, the Special Investigation Committee detained the above 5 suspects and brought them to Da Nang to serve the investigation.
The suspects confessed that from October 2022 to now, they have defrauded more than 500 victims nationwide with a total amount of nearly 5 billion VND.
The case is currently being investigated by the Criminal Police Department of Da Nang City Police.
