Last week, the number of dengue fever cases in Hanoi continued to decrease, and the dengue fever epidemic in Hanoi is considered to have passed its peak.
According to a representative of the Hanoi Department of Health, last week (from December 2 to 7), Hanoi recorded 1,141 cases of dengue fever in 30 districts, towns and cities. The number of dengue fever cases decreased compared to the previous week (the previous week was 1,715 cases).
Thus, up to now, for 5 consecutive weeks, Hanoi has reduced the number of dengue fever cases; the epidemic has passed its peak.
Since the beginning of 2023, Hanoi has recorded a total of 38,582 cases of dengue fever, including 4 deaths; the number of cases increased compared to the same period in 2022.
A representative of the Hanoi Center for Disease Control assessed that although Hanoi has passed the peak of the dengue fever epidemic, the number of cases remains high, still over 1,000 cases/week. Therefore, people should not be subjective, and should continue to comply with disease prevention and control measures according to the instructions of the health sector; localities in the city need to continue to persistently, regularly and continuously implement effective environmental sanitation and mosquito larvae eradication.
According to the results of monitoring dengue fever prevention and control at some outbreak areas last week, the BI index (index of investigating the number of water containers with mosquito larvae) at monitoring points has also decreased below the prescribed threshold.
The health sector continues to carry out epidemic prevention activities during the week, such as: Closely monitoring and updating information on the epidemic situation; organizing surveillance, investigation, and handling of epidemics with cases and outbreaks detected in the community and decentralized medical facilities; maintaining a rapid response team, ensuring readiness to promptly respond to epidemic situations occurring in the city.
