Syrian local media reported that 20 people, including children, were killed in clashes on April 7 between local gunmen in the southern province of Daraa.
According to Syria's Sham FM radio station, the conflict was in response to an explosion that occurred a day earlier that killed at least seven children.
The recent violence has highlighted the instability in Daraa, where the Syrian civil war broke out in 2011. Although the army regained control of the province in 2018 after pushing back rebels, the area has seen security incidents and attacks.
