In the first half of this year, inspection units nationwide inspected nearly 2.9 million vehicles, of which more than 2.2 million vehicles met technical safety and environmental protection standards.

At the conference to evaluate the results of the first six months of the year and deploy key tasks for the last six months of 2023 of the Vietnam Register held on July 24 in Hanoi, Mr. Nguyen Vu Hai, Deputy Director of the Vietnam Register, informed that in the first two quarters of the year, registration units across the country inspected nearly 2.9 million vehicles.
Of these, more than 2.2 million vehicles met technical safety and environmental protection standards, while nearly 678,000 vehicles failed and had to be maintained, repaired, and adjusted for re-inspection.
Regarding the quality inspection of imported, manufactured and assembled motor vehicles in the first six months of 2023, the Vietnam Register has inspected and issued quality certificates for imported vehicles for nearly 65 million cars, trailers and semi-trailers, more than 30,000 motorbikes, scooters and nearly 15,000 imported specialized motorbikes.
There are 530 types of automobiles, trailers and semi-trailers; 683 types of automobile components; 109 types of motorcycles, motorbikes and six types of electric bicycles produced; 448 types of motorcycle components, motorbikes produced, assembled domestically and imported that have been granted type certificates.
"In addition, the authorities also issued design appraisal certificates for 445 types of cars, trailers and semi-trailers; issued 80 fuel consumption certificates for passenger cars with seven seats or less and from seven to nine seats that were manufactured, assembled and imported; 50 certificates for warranty and maintenance facilities; and conducted 317 assessments of quality assurance conditions for facilities manufacturing and assembling motor vehicles, electric bicycles and motor vehicle components domestically and abroad," Mr. Nguyen Vu Hai informed.
Regarding ship inspection, the leader of the Vietnam Register said that as of June 30, the number of Vietnamese ships was more than 1,200 with a total tonnage of more than 11 million tons and a total capacity of nearly 7 million GT. Of which, the number of ships operating on international routes was 592, with a total tonnage of nearly 10 million tons and a total capacity of more than 6 million GT.
During the first two quarters of the year, the Vietnam Register has closely coordinated with the Vietnam Maritime Administration to maintain the Vietnamese fleet in the White-Gray List of the Tokyo MOU (Port State Inspection Cooperation Organization in the Asia-Pacific region).
Statistics from January 1 to June 30, 2023, in the Tokyo MOU area, 19 Vietnamese-flagged ships were detained under PSC out of a total of 423 PSC inspections, a detention rate of 4.49%.
Regarding the inspection of marine works, as of June 30, the Vietnam Register has inspected and issued certificates of technical safety and environmental pollution prevention for 290 works of all types, including: 110 fixed platforms, 11 mobile platforms, 14 floating storage facilities at sea, 150 marine pipeline systems, and 4 oil and gas mooring buoys.
