The Vietnamese auto market is preparing to welcome a number of car models, promising an explosive debut in the second quarter of 2025.
Car manufacturers are planning to launch many new models in segments such as CUV, SUV, MPV from small to medium size such as MG G50, Kia Sorento, Geely EX5, Monjaro, Skoda Kushaq. Among them, many models are launched for the first time in Vietnam and are all imported.
According to information from some dealers, the Kia Sorento 2025 is expected to be introduced in early April. This is a mid-life facelift version with light equipment additions and minor changes in exterior and interior design, while the engine system equipment remains almost the same.
Thaco has not yet announced any information related to the new upgraded version of this D-class SUV in the Vietnamese market, but before that, a 2025 Kia Sorento was revealed at the emission testing center in Hanoi. Some sales consultants said that the changes in appearance are similar to the previously launched Carnival facelift.
In foreign markets, the facelift version of the Kia Sorento brings a clear change in the front of the car, inspired by the design of the Kia Carnival with a new headlight cluster and grille, along with a new, sportier 20-inch rim design. The interior is equipped with a 12.3-inch curved screen cluster, refined center console area and air-conditioning vents.
In Vietnam, the Kia Sorento 2025 is expected to continue using the existing engine options, including: 2.2L diesel engine, 2.5L gasoline engine and Hybrid system with 1.6L engine with power not much different from before. Currently, the price of Sorento ranges from 964 million VND to 1,499 billion VND.
Kushaq is the first B-size SUV of the Skoda brand to be completely locally assembled at the Skoda - Thanh Cong Viet Hung automobile factory, assembled according to European technological standards and with a genuine warranty of up to 5 years.
It is expected that in June 2025, Thanh Cong Group will launch these Skoda Kushaq models to the market. The size of Kushaq is on par with B-class CUV models such as Mitsubishi Xforce, Kia Seltos. This is a purely domestic car model but is equipped and designed with a European exterior that is masculine, strong but equally elegant.
In terms of overall length and dimensions, the Skoda Kushaq has a length x width x height of 4,221 x 1,760 x 1,612 mm, and a wheelbase of 2,651 mm. These parameters are similar to the Mitsubishi Xforce or Kia Seltos. This 5-wheel CUV model is developed on the MQB A0 IN platform. This is also the MQB A0 platform of the Volkswagen Group (Skoda's parent company) but is a low-cost version for the Indian market.
There is currently no official information about the configuration of Kushaq for the Vietnamese market, however in India, this model is equipped with two gasoline engine options: 1.0 and 1.5. Manual or automatic transmission is available with 6 speeds on the 1.0 engine version with a capacity of 113 horsepower, torque of 175 Nm. The front of the car is designed to maintain the Modern Solid language of the Skoda brand, designed for all Skoda cars such as: Kodiaq or Karoq.
In May, the D-segment SUV segment will have more choices for customers with the Geely Monjaro model. This is a Chinese car company, the 5-seat configuration is in the D segment but the size of this car model is only positioned between C and D sizes.
Geely Monjaro is developed on the CMA (Compact Modular Architecture) platform - the same advanced platform as Volvo XC40, Polestar 2 and many other models under the Lynk & Co. brand.
The Monjaro design is masculine but quite neat. The interior focuses on experience with highlights such as the iMax screen, panoramic sunroof, HUD windshield display; 2.0 turbocharged gasoline engine, 234 horsepower at 5,500 rpm, maximum torque of 350 Nm at 1,800 - 4,500 rpm. 8-speed automatic transmission combined with AWD full-time 4-wheel drive system.
The car is equipped with a series of advanced ADAS driving assistance technology applications such as: adaptive cruise control, automatic parking, 540 camera (including 360 camera and undercarriage simulation), lane keeping assist, lane change assist, traffic sign recognition.
The price of Monjaro has not been announced but promises to create dramatic competition in the market.
At the launch event in the Vietnamese market, the Chinese car company introduced a trio of products including Geely EX5, Monjaro and Coolray. Geely EX5 was introduced as a pure electric car, although it has not been revealed where this car is imported from, but it is also expected to be launched in May, at the same time as Geely Monjaro.
Geely EX5 has overall dimensions of length x width x height of 4,615 x 1,901 x 1,670 mm and a wheelbase of 2,750 mm. The EX5 has a soft, rounded design at the corners, creating a smoother and more flexible ride. The interior is spacious, using environmentally friendly materials. The car is equipped with a large central entertainment screen measuring 15.4 inches, smaller than the Atto 3 (15.6 inches).
Some notable highlights of the EX5's exterior are the closed grille that creates a seamless connection with the body, small triangular air vents on both sides of the front of the car, smooth headlights, continuous LED taillights and 18-inch or 19-inch alloy wheels (depending on the version).
EX5 has two versions, both equipped with a 214 horsepower motor, 320 Nm torque; The battery supports fast DC charging 30 - 80% in 20 minutes. The high-end version is equipped with an electric trunk door, panoramic sunroof with curtains, electric driver's seat/memory position, electric passenger seat, cooled front seats, interior lighting system up to 256 colors, Flyme Sound Wanos sound system with 16 speakers, including speakers integrated into the front seat headrests.
Currently, the company has not announced the price of Geely EX5 in the Vietnamese market, however, according to information from distributor Tasco Auto, this model will cost from 750 - 850 million VND. With this price, it will open a price competition with VinFast VF 7 and BYD Atto 3.
