Noi Bai International Airport has developed a detailed service plan, divided into stages and time frames to ensure service during the peak holiday season of April 30 - May 1.
According to statistics from Noi Bai International Airport, during the April 30 - May 1 holiday this year, the number of flights and passengers passing through the airport is expected to increase both domestically and internationally.
Of which, the peak day is expected to serve 108,000 passengers (including 44,000 international passengers and 64,000 domestic passengers), up 22% compared to usual, up 25% compared to the same period; 602 flights (including 277 international flights, 325 domestic flights), up 12% compared to usual, up 18% compared to the same period.
The peak day before the holiday is April 29, with 7 peak hours expected with more than 2,000 passengers per peak hour. The peak day after the holiday is May 4, with 3 peak hours expected with more than 2,000 passengers per peak hour. The peak hours currently do not exceed the port's service capacity.
Notably, in the first 4 months of this year, Noi Bai International Airport had 4 international airlines opening new routes (including Airasia Cambodia, 9 Air, Xiamen, Lucky Air), a domestic airline opening 3 routes connecting Hanoi with China..., helping international transport output at Noi Bai Airport grow well and remain at a high level in recent times with an average of more than 40,000 passengers/day.
To ensure safe and effective flight service, Noi Bai International Airport has developed a detailed service plan, divided into stages and time frames to ensure readiness in terms of human resources, equipment, and vehicles to meet service needs; focusing on locations with the highest passenger concentration during peak hours such as baggage conveyor areas, security check areas, car parks, access lanes, etc., to allocate human resources and vehicles accordingly; strengthening close coordination with functional forces to quickly handle any arising situations.
During the April 30 holiday this year, Noi Bai International Airport coordinated with units of the Ministry of Public Security and airlines Vietnam Airlines and VietjetAir to prepare and complete steps to use biometrics on the VNeID platform to check in for domestic flights.
Noi Bai International Airport has installed equipment at 5 security checkpoints and 15 boarding gates in Terminal 1 so that passengers can check in using biometric technology on the VNeID platform. Passengers flying domestic flights of Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet Air can use biometrics to pass through security and board the plane.
“This system helps shorten the time for procedures, reduce pressure on security check areas, increase throughput, reduce operating pressure, and enhance the passenger experience. The official application time will be announced specifically by the airport in coordination with other units when all preparations are completed,” added the leader of Noi Bai International Airport.
To avoid delays or missed flights, passengers should carefully check their flight documents to ensure they are still valid; proactively board early before departure time (arrive 2 hours before departure for domestic flights, 3 hours for international flights); carefully read the airline's regulations to prepare luggage properly, do not bring prohibited or restricted items on board, carefully read the regulations on transporting lithium batteries; passengers should quickly line up to do the next procedures immediately after completing check-in procedures.
For domestic passengers of Vietnam Airlines and VietjetAir with VNeID level 2 accounts, update the latest version and the latest application of the airlines, to experience checking in with facial biometrics at security screening points and boarding gates.
